We've known for months that we desperately need a Right back, striker and goalkeeper since the end of last season why almost 24 hours before the window shuts haven't we signed at least one player in these three positions? Sakho will be a quality signing provided he is fit and provided we play a back four or he can adapt to a back three. There seems to be an awful lot of assumptions being made that by signing one very expensive player who played well for us in 8 games last season that we will transform overnight under a different manager to the same team we were under allardyce last season. Is there any semblance of a plan at palace?

Have you heard of Parkinson's Law? If it applies to anything, it applies to football transfers.

Chill.

I'm betting that it is not a case of Parkinson's Law or perhaps my limited knowledge of it and more of not properly addressing issues and wait to the last moment to see what's available with a very possible conclusion of us not signing anyone and being completely f***ed.

Very much hoping my words are not prophetic and would be genuinely ecstatic but also very shocked if we sign more than one player and even then of any real quality!

There are only 3 possible reasons you are not aware of any "semblance of a plan":

1. There isn't and never was one
2. Steve Parish wasn't really planning on spending any money so himself and FdB have remained tight lipped and cryptic to keep that truth from fans
3. SP & FdB know exactly what they are doing and will work a few miracles to pull in 3 or 4 high quality players tomorrow

Number 3 looks as likely as... we'll use your own imagination

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Is that where all of our transfer stories are a bit shaky? Or where they all get attacked by Rod Hull whilst trying to chat to Billy Connolly?

Seems we are linked with many targets and have achieved just the one permanent signing.
Time is running short and we desperately need some quality signings over the line, although even the acquisition of just Sakho would help in our obvious fight again to stay up,and give any new manager some options as I cannot see Frank as hanging around more than a few more weeks, as hopelessly out of his depth in the Premiership.

It's because I'm guessing we've decided to spend the entire budget on one player and go for whatever dog s*** scrapings we can find on deadline day.

We could buy your hero. Unwanted and unrated in the prem, Dwight Gayle for £18 mil.

Could've saved the £8 mil on Jairo. We'd have 2 left backs in PVA and Schlupp, a left footed CB in Sakho, a few more CB's and several midfielders. We need someone or more out tomorrow or in January.

Yeah but by all accounts I must say I thought Jairo was a no brainer for that money - one of the most sought out young Centre Halves in Europe last year and at that point I thought we were still gonna be playing with 4 at the back so thought it would've been encouraging to see Jairo as someone who can ease his way into the side and develop etc. with someone like a Martins Indi or Wimmer to partner Dann and money to be more evenly distributed on the rest of the squad. No doubt another defensive reinforcement is still a priority, but really does feel this is complete gung ho and at the expense of the rest of the team, and the lack of scouting imagination could end up proving very costly.
