So, are we to assume that we either had to name him in the squad or release him? Else it doesn't make any sense.

Can only imagine we'd have to have named him as the 25th squad member. Others had said this might be the case. Be interesting to see if is a keeper or forward we sign.

This is interesting. He has been asked - after the transfer deadline (so he cannot join another club) - to accept release. Could be juggling with the 25 named player place. He will not have joined another club before the January Window opens, and is allowed to train with Palace. We get number 25 in (whoever that may be) and come January Julian Speroni makes way for him as a PL squad goalkeeper. Someone has been thinking, I am waiting with interest on the new arrival later this month and events when the January Window opens. COYP

They had cleared spaces with JW, KA and hoped for another with JM moving on loan. As he didn't we had to release another and KP cheaper than a first teamer

This is the stupid thing about the new rules around the transfer window. The lad should be free to sign for any club with space.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Didn't have to be named, could of been unregistered, would mean he would not be allowed to be in any premier league squads, but could play for the under 23s or in cup games. Much like florian marange. Signed and not registered, yet featured in the cup.
