hi the other season we went in the cricket club near the ground they welcoming and the food and drink was cheap

Yep, cricket club is best bet as right next to ground. Most pubs close to the ground are home fans only. Other than that there are a couple of Wetherspoons, a couple of places just off the town centre and a rather odd old fashioned pub called The Ministry of Ale close to Manchester Road station
