Two defensive midfielders

We got bullied against Southampton in our last game, both McArthur and Cabaye looked lightweight. So why not try Fosu-Mensah or Reidewald alongside Luka in the centre and push Loftus-Cheek into the number 10 role. It would also allow Wilf and Andros to wreck havoc up alongside Benteke. Punch would therefore be dropped as well. I would go with the following; Hennessey Fosu-Mensah/Reidewald Luka Loftus-Cheek

I'm not clear what that formation is meant to be, but I'm not too keen on pushing inexperienced CBs into alternative positions they're even less experienced at. I'd go with the tried and tested 4-2-3-1 and have no arguments with your front four or Milivojevic who I'd partner with another dedicated midfielder. I don't think Riedewald is ready for PL football. Maybe I'd try Fosu Mensah at RB in tomorrow's game and see how he gets on and I understand Roy is going to play Soure tomorrow, so if he plays well I'd keep him in for Saturday.

This is close to some thinking I had earlier. Genuinely thinking we should drop Benteke (yes we'll miss all his goals) for Man City and play an attacking midfield lineup of Zaha (if available), RLC and Townsend. Play an extra DM as mentioned and sit deep. Look for breaks by telling everybody to pass to one of those three and....ok ok, I'd make a sh*t manager, I've been told. But we'll be counter attacking if we attack City at all and I'm not really bothered for Benteke being at the front of that attack. Not slating him really, but I think we could ditch an out and out striker in favour of a ball winner. So maybe (assuming fitness): Hennessey TFM, Dann, Sakho, PvA Luka, Jimmy Cabaye Zaha, RLC, Townsend
I should've caveated that I bunged in Jimmy Mac at random. He's not really the right guy to go there. Riedewald if you must. Edited by Part Time James (18 Sep 2017 4.34pm)

Benteke Think this is a good suggestion, I'd also like to see us try RCL along side Luka. But deff think one of the three (RCL, TFM, Reidwield) should regularly play along side Luka as a second DM.
