I posted that Simon Jordan refused Tim Cahill due to last minute agent demands
Charlton 2_2 and down I think
Asked if Cahill who went to EVerton and got goals would have saved us he said yes but didn't want to be mugged off.
Hindsight is wonderful but was Jordan right
And if so does it make parish right about niasse.
Other factors of enough time to do a deal not included
Just morality of his decision
Back then Jordan was highlighted as a bit of a hero for finally standing up to agents.

Agents are business men, Parish is a business man.

Parish thought the last day he'd be in a stronger position to get terms he wanted.

Agent thought otherwise.

Deal off.

Who won ?

Clearly now we have no striker and niasse is knocking them in the agent did.

We played poker and lost.

Not sure I'd blame the agent for anything, but then i don't know what his demands were.

Its pretty clear you leave business to the last days and hours then you might get a deal or you might be forced to pay up.

Not sure you can blame an agent, we was the ones that left it to the last day / hours. Our fault.

Jordan was not a hero. People thought he was right for all of 5 minutes but it ultimately got him nowhere. Jordan and Crystal Palace can't change the industry.

Jordan says he could have signed Cahill and he's right that he'd probably be enough for survival, or Dean Ashton would've been if it wasn't for Dario Gradi, advising him to go to Norwich, but I think it's from Millwall that Cahill's agent used us to flush out Everton into putting the money up.

Having morals is admirable but in football it's wasted and may hurt.

Fair points well made gold
Sort of thought that
Suppose I wanted to be made wrong to think it and that maybe just maybe there was some right in his decision. I'm not a parish fan club member.ironic that it's twice and maybe a similar outcome sadly.
That's the end of that then !

Do we know what it was the the agent demanded?

Would help to know why the deal was called off.

What a defeatist attitude it is that if your actions are unlikely to be successful in righting wrongs then you shouldn't even bother trying.

I see nothing wrong in having principles and sticking to them

It's not agents ruining it it's money. Before long the top 6 or 7 clubs will completely break away. It is pretty much there now. Man City were at a different level to us on sarurday.
I can see a super Euro league coming.
We are now way out of our depth in the premier. We don't have anything needed.
2 premier players, 1 injured. Poor direction. Poor ground. Good fans but they count for nearly nothing other than noise.
This has been coming for the past 2 seasons.
I think after Newcastle reality will dawn.
I can see big changes coming to footballs structure. The champions league will become just that. Entry will be based on financials as well as performance. It is coming.

And standing up to them neatly killed the club. They are leaches but part and parcel of the game.

It went so well for Jordan and us after all. Unless you get a majority vote you have to play the game.

'Part and parcel of the game'

Our issues have nothing to do with and aren't the responsibility of the league. We're another club that's made poor choices and as a result of them added together may suffer relegation.

The top 4 will still drop points this season. Arguably it's more exciting as 3 teams could win the league and 6 make top 4. Leicester won the league very recently. Anyone out of nearly 10 can go down. It's up to them to get their house in order.

I do. Each season I hope for a comfortable season and if you don't know, it makes it more possible to forward plan, which makes these fvck ups even more stupid and irresponsible.
