Then we have projects like HS2 which will cost up to 80 billion pounds - for each tax-payer around £2,500, for what - a few minutes off a rail journey. But of course the government and the civil service know best don't they - the wealth creators are just idiots.

I thought you were talking about 'the Left' and - according to you - the way it wastes money. As I understand it HS2 is supported by the Conservative Government and opposed by politicians from all sides of the house.

Of course government spending is necessary, but it should be kept to the minimum necessary to ensure law and order, defence, roads, education, health, social security.
