Wickham is (was) an excellent player and once fit again will be a real asset.

My fear is that he plays well between now and the end of January but then gets injured again after the transfer window closes. However having him fit and playing well for just two months would be a start.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I'm sure this sentiment has been echoed across the thread at some stage, but even if Wickham does regain fitness it's so difficult to remain at the same level.

Watching the Newcastle 5-1 highlights the other day, you realise what a striker he was. Mobile, comfortable on the ball, a physical presence and could score a goal. Would fit perfectly in our side.

Poor old Connor would get himself injured in a children's play ball pool.

A. If and it's a big if, he managed to get fit enough to play, no one in their right minds would pay his wages.

B. He wouldn't stay fit long enough.

C. See points a and b

He is clearly struggling to get back to anything near 100% but I dont think you can predict the future, man?

In case you havent noticed we are seriously short on options up front so it is nowhere near time to give up here. End of the season, is a different story.

When you loan a player, you generally either contribute or pay the wages outright.

If he can somehow stay fit for a while, I am sure plenty of clubs would take him on loan, however we would probably keep him either way as we have no depth up top whatsoever.

I’ve seen a few mention this but not by Roy. All Roy said was Wickham is back training with the first team, along with Dann.

Sky reporting he's fit for today along with Dann. Maybe they will be on the bench?

And neither on the bench.

Even an injured Wickham and Dann could contribute more than some of those on the bench today.

Shame he didn’t make the bench. Maybe one day soon!

Dann and Wickham are a serious goal threat from dead ball situations, something that we are really missing at the moment...

Yes, Dann probably the most dangerous of all our players at corners. We have 4 players who are a threat in those situations as I would add Benteke and Tomkins to that list. Unfortunately we only have 1 fit and ready to play from that 4 hence why our current corners cause few problems. Sakho is not great at offensive corners.
