i personally see wickham as a very similar situation to murray.

for 1 minute, forget the promotion season, as had wickham been up front that season he would have scored 30 goals for us also.

been injured for 18 months and has had to work his way back into the 1st team squad, both are quite similar players and connor could do a very good job for us given the chance/minutes.

i know connor doesnt have the history murray had with us but he deserves the same amount of support, and if he gets his form back, we potentially have 7 yearsof decent striking ability from connor.

he has ability galore, you dont lose that ability..only
confidence.

Ha ha. Thatís brilliant. I had the ump this morning and this nonsense cheered me up a bit.

I think weíve invested too much in Wickham to write him off for a few million. If heís fit enough to play, heís worth a f*ck sight more than that and if heís not fit, no oneís going to take him anyway.

And thereís no point loaning him while heís fit and useful and we just pay his wages while heís injured.
Like Benteke, he has to raise his stock in order to make it worth our while selling.

The championship and premier league are two very different beasts. You can do something of Ďa jobí for a team somewhere in the championship but be a complete waste of time and a squad place in the premier League.

Weíve hung onto dross far too much in the recent past and even if you were once okay, itís no good if you canít play and havenít played for so long weíve almost forgotten youíre here.

Personally I think this is a make or break season for Wickham. A loan to either Stoke or Bristol City would in my eyes benefit player and club but if they offered 3-4m for Wickham I would snap their hands off.

I think that he has shown in preseason that he is back to fitness and could be a real asset this season. I think if he stays and plays he will be our top scorer.

He showed glimpses of his best the last time he had a run of games at full fitness. I wouldnít write him off yet as an on form Wickham is probably our best striker at present.

Does Wickham take penalties then?

Can't see it happening but still...

Could be good to go on loan, however unless we get someone in (Bats hopefully) don't see how we can afford to let him go

Wickham will be off if the right deal presents itself.

He still doesnít look fit to me and I donít think he currently has what it takes at Premier League level.

Iíd like him to prove me wrong obviously

I think we would be mad to let him go after all the effort to get him fit. I think he at least needs a go till Christmas. He does look like he is well off the boil to me but stranger things have happened.

Also he looks no worse than Benteke at this present moment.

We are very short of strikers, the last time the club got rid of a striker who was considered "past his prime" it was Glenn Murray,Wickham has shown tenacity In getting back to fitness, the same tenacity may see him net a lot of goals.

If we can get a reasonable fee for him it has to be better than letting his contract run down and get nothing.
It now looks as if giving him a new contract , had itís uses.
Whether he actually does go is yet to be seen, but he would fit the clubs mentioned , And from Palaces point of view it would make space for a potential upgrade.

Agreed. In the long term it could be great to build his fitness and confidence. In the short term, a strike force of Benteke and Ayew?! Dougie et al must be very confident that other strikers are coming in...
