Michael Oliver (32) from Ashington, Northumberland.

Last two Palace matches were the defeat at Burnley and the draw at West Brom.

On Saturday, Oliver was man in the middle for Burnley v Spurs.

Bullhorn76 is spot-on. He was in charge both for that match and for the one a few weeks later when Man City won 5-0.

Well he made an arse of that match at Turf Moor. Bottled sending off Dele Alli then gave him a highly dubious penalty.

Doubt if he would afford Wilf the same latitude.

Quoting from the article in the link :

"Atkinson said one of the pet hates of referees was when commentators accused them of "bottling"a decision.

"We wouldn't have got to where we are in football if we bottled decisions,"he insisted.

Well "where they are in football" is a f***ing laughing stock and this is a lot of the reason why.

Supporters recognise they have a very difficult job in a game that has got ever faster, with players trying to deceive them and with ever greater scrutiny due to the TV exposure.
They do not think they are a "Laughing stock" at all.

What on God's good earth has this got to do with his ability as a professional referee ?

There has been enough debate on HOL about the qualities of Mark as a referee and my views are very well known.I stand "Four square" by what I have stated.

Mark's private life is of no interest to me and I patently refuse to enter into any debate about it as it will only only go one way and we have had enough of WILLO threads to last a lifetime.

Well, the debate is whether refs are a laughing stock.
MC clearly qualifies, on several counts.
Incidentally, it was illuminating to notice how other refs criticised MC so roundly for his Spurs "game-plan" remarks. It's clear that he has no respect among his fellow professionals.
