That is Mama's fee spend then... On someone who I think is ok but never have rated as top quality. Might be mistaken of course, but with the low level of Dutch defenders in general he has not managed to stand out in the national team either. Is there an end to the madness, 75 m for a just above average defender?

Sadly, the money will probably buy Southampton out of trouble; as things stand they're only a point above us. Let's hope the deal and purchases by Southampton as a consequence, occurs after their game with us on January 1st.

I can't believe van Dijk is worth £75m. If it were not for the injury outages I would prefer Sakho any day of the week. I'm not even sure I don't prefer Tomkins to van Dijk these days. I suppose van Dijk has been a sulky w***er at Southampton where he didn't want to be, and may improve at another club, but £75m? That's at least double what's reasonable IMHO.
