I thought Pulis was the man to stick with us long term and give us that stability in the top flight, him leaving was a bit of a shock and part of a ridiculous turnover of managers.

I didnít see Pardew (despite the good start) as a viable long term manager, FS also I didnít think was out long term solution.

My heart sank when Roy was appointed, his pedigree blemished in my mind from his terrible England spell. I stand corrected, he has us playing well but also sensibly and in way i can see getting stability. A long way to go this season, but if we continue this way and stay up (I think we will) itíd be great (and I pray) we can start and finish next season with Roy in charge. He is on a 2 year deal, how long do you think we could keep him if all goes well, 70 isnít young...

He did look a bit damp, I do worry about the auld fella.

If Milivojevic' goal didn't warm his cockles nothing will. He definitely deserves a double brandy tonight though.

The title of this thread is called 'Stability'. That doesn't necessarily mean Roy has to stay in charge.

If we assume Dougie as Director of Football is a good idea - and that's a big assumption because he's never done it before - then all we need is to groom an assistant Manager under Roy.

If Roy does retire at the end of this season or even next, let's not then run around like loons, trying to get the next bargain-bucket Guardiola.

Let's just use some common sense in our succession planning for once.

Since that t*** McClaren used an umbrella and got ripped a new one by just about everybody, managers feel they must all get soaked if it's raining, not even allowed to put a hood up. If I was a manager I'd be wearing a baseball cap all the time, a la Pulis, then nobody notices if you keep it on when it's raining.

We need our Roy to stay fit and well! And for another couple of years at least please!

I sincerely hope Roy can have another full season in charge. We should be planning for his departure and I hope we are!!

He deserves to have a couple of the youth team following him around with umbrellas (and parasols when it's hot) the results he's getting for us at the moment.

"Would you like me to peel you a grape Sir Roy?"

"Yes, I think that would be appropriate, let me just send Sako on first."

Doogs made some good signings as our manager, before he signed the worst contract ever - the job with Bolton!

I am a big fan of separating the roles of manager and Director of Football (what in the US is known as the General Manager). It means you can hire two people to do the two jobs - which require very different skill sets - that one person had to do previously. It's far better to split the roles and fill them with the best individuals for each job.

Also, even without changing managers, just think of the workload for a do-it-all manager who has to navigate the insane Christmas / New Year schedule, and come out the other side with a strategy for the January transfer window. When does he have time to sit down with the Chairman and figure out who they can target and for how much?

I like the split of the roles, and I am hoping that Doogs can reproduce his transfer market savvy in a full-time role. Let Roy focus on setting up his decimated squad for success every week.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

After tonight The Crytsals should suck him off.

Yannick Bolasie - Glenn Murray - Wilfried Zaha

Most exciting attacking trio at Selhurst Park in years.
