I recall seeing their signs offering to dry clean suits for the unemployed with job interviews. Very nice. It's interesting you view this in terms of capitalism, because it doesn't fall within the regular principles. That said, obviously I'd endorse their initiatives. I suppose that does then give grounds to deem capitalism a failure. But, I'd say it's because of the people fighting to give something for nothing which instead inhibits capitalism. Not in terms of free services, but free money. Take that away and we'd have everyone working for Timpsons, and then they'd be able to give back to the unemployed and ex-cons. ...in an an ideal world. Obviously it's not that black and white so I wonder how anyone can so blindly support either system. Edited by johnfirewall (06 Jan 2018 11.51am)

Capitalism is an economic and political system, it can be neither 'caring' nor 'non caring'. It is however, the only sustainable means of raising the living standards of everyone in a country and ensuring individual freedom. Every other system has been found to consistently fail in this.
