Interesting thoughts about the Cantona incident in the newly-published autobigraphy by Andrei Kanchelskis who was closest player to what happened.

He reckons that the subsequent suspension of his French teammate for the rest of the season cost Man Utd a third successive title.

He says: "Cantona's opponents tried everything they could to needle him. They wanted him to react and generally they would get what they wanted. In January, 1995, at Crystal Palace, they hit the jackpot."

Are Palace opponents guilty of the same tactics with our French misfielder?

Poor Cantona, did the nasty big boy push him in the playground den? Ah.

Cantona, 6ft 2ins and 14 stone

Richard Shaw, 5ft 9ins (blimey!) and 12 stone 8 pounds

it cheers me up to know he cost his team the title.

and to see Mourinho mess it all up with a multi billion dollar budget is hilarious. Pogba on his best day would not be fit to tie the boots on Cabaye or Jedinak ( still missing him) on an average day.

Cantona should have been marking Southgate for our goal.
Two points dropped for United in that game alone.
Jonathan Pearce said he should be banned for the rest of his life whilst commentating.
The rest of the press thought the same.
Just a shame that Man U fans are gullible enough to swallow any nonsense that the business puts out about them via their PR machine.
He’s now like footballs equivalent of Princess Diana, hated by scores of people at the time, then turned into a martyr by the press afterwards.

Amazing footballer, dreadful actor, woeful human!

Poor man's Vinnie Jones!

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

Absolutely dead right, As you say, Shaw had him in his pocket and you could see the C*** (good description) getting more and more frustrated.

I had a perfect view of the assault on Richard Shaw, and that’s exactly what it was. B*llocks to the misunderstood Gallic enigma myth, Cantona was nothing but a thug and an ars*h*le.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

There are only two footballers who genuinely make my skin crawl every time they are on TV in any capacity - Cantona and Roy Keane. Must be something about self-opinionated, thuggish, arrogant Man U midfielders!

There are plenty who irritate me: Shearer, Crooks, Coleman etc. but it's a game of opinions so I can live with that, but the first two I just can't watch
