We are linked with nick powell, was rated very highly before going utd , the team that has ruined a lot of young people’s careers and or confidence (Zaha). Would be fairly cheap, good strong player with a hell of a shot on him, not a high risk on wages or transfer fee. Sell chungy and Jordon Mutch and buy him to be on the bench trying to improve to be in our first team, very young also so good sell on fee if it don’t work out, well we should at least get our money back

I read a report of Wigan's last FA Cup match and I remember the reporter saying that he was too good for League One and probably too good for the Championship as well. If it was only £1.5 million then it seems very low risk and given Southampton's perilous position he might see us as a better option.

Had forgotten about this guy. If it's 1.5 million and the wages aren't silly, then he could add some depth to the squad at the moment, and potentially become a good player for us if he gets back on track.

Was only talking about the player last night.

Has played in various positions - as striker, behind the striker,in midfield.Dario Gradi at Crewe thought his best position was just off the striker. When Ferguson bought him for Man Utd he saw him as a central midfielder.Has had problems with injuries.Powell has said in the past that ideally he would like to play behind the main striker.

Right-footed but two very good feet and a wonderful striker of a ball.Good vision and temperament, well balanced, decent in the air and not afraid to put himself about.Has scored from the penalty spot for Wigan this season.Takes free kicks over wall.

Nice detail about taking free kicks

Sounds like a perfect squad player, Benteke needs crosses but he also needs someone close to him so he doesn't get isolated - this boy could fill that role sometimes, back up for Loftus Cheek and a spare striker with scope to improve, and cheap! it's a thumbs up from me

Would definitely improve the current squad for not a lot of outlay. Hope this one is genuine and something we get done.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

I saw him score a brace against (10 man) Wimbledon just before Christmas. Looked pretty decent although Wimbledon looked pretty poor even before they had someone sent off.

Off subject. Tom Soares looked poor and was booed by some Wimbledon fans, Kwesi Appiah came on as a sub but I didn't realise it was him until after the match so presumably didn't do much.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Just shows that people can make incorrect allegations based on NO foundation whatsoever.
I spoke to someone on the phone about a variety of football matters and he mentioned Powell and some other names of players from the lower divisions IE Sessegnon,Konsa and Szmodics.

I suggested this guy a few weeks back on bbs, think he's the type of player we don't have in our squad

I think that this would be a very shrewd signing!

Funny how they took Moses off of us! perhaps we get to take Powell!

IH: "I thought Jonny and Wilf were brilliant but it took a 39 year old master to watch the ball and keep his eye on it to finish it".
