We are past the half way mark of the transfer window and it is worrying to see that we have not signed at least one player. Especially with the big big injury crisis we have currently.

I know it is not as simple as it sounds but we have been linked with a couple of good signings, some of whom have their contract ending at the end of the season.

For example-

GK- Bart Bialkowski- seems solid and a cheap option compared to whats out there. Signing him now would relieve some pressure on hennessey and speroni for now.

GK- Guaita- I'm sure offering a good contract would sway him to join at the end of his contract and stop getafe from playing us around

these are some examples, but strikers, defenders can be done in a similar fashion. This would mean that if we do sign at least 2-3, we can expect another 2-3 joining us next season, giving a bit of backbone to the team and then we can weed out all the crap from the garden.

In your scenario is Bart going into the first 11 ? or backing up Wayne as 2/3rd choice.?
PS we will not be signing both.

Palace 13th 2017/18.

Depends on how well either plays. I reckon thats something Roy would decide on depending on performance. I know the likelihood is low, but speroni is going to have to retire at some point, and we will be in a similar situation where we've only got 2 goal keepers and no safety nets.

We have known since September 1st we are in need of a striker desperately and for the last few months several other positions have been highlighted. How we are yet again two thirds of the way through a transfer window with no signings seems negligent to me. I'm beginning to think we'll probably end up with one player max!

It isn't worrying. At all.

We are in a great position in the league and after getting £2m back in sales for the last £70m of players signed we are not in a position to outbid Everton for players like Walcott on 6 figure a week salaries.

Plus every other side of our size or bigger is looking at the same players. And above all else...

Why, oh, why, would a player who has been told is for sale, want to depart early as opposed to waiting to the end of the window until all the options are on the table?

This must be your first january transfer window?

It's just a game of musical chairs. Players, clubs and agents dance about and posture for each other whist the jouralists spout made-up bulls*** to drive a completely fake betting market to scam the naïve. Then on deadline day the players decide where they want to be, buying clubs decide whom they want and selling clubs settle on a price. Then it's time to s*** or get off the pot.

And the agents try to keep everyone sitting on the pot so that they can ransom the deals for millions of pounds.

It's totally, totally bonkers. But it's the reason why few signings get done by this stage.

Whatever is goin' on in the transfer window, we really need to sign up players good enough to march straight into team - and some squad players. Our startin' 11 is strong, but with injury proned players like Tomkins & PVA you never know. And imagine Zaha or Luka out for a couple of games...We're not that far away from the relegation zone, so a striker or two for mentally blocked & paralyzed Benteke (Chelsea, please make a stupid bid), a CD and a allrounder in midfield would do. Not worried about our goalies, both Julian & Wayne are doin' all right...

Someone’s been listening to the 5YP podcast. And then passing SP’s views off as their own. And then being patronising about it.

Perhaps because he may end up not moving at all if the original bidder turned their attention elsewhere or else it's a choice between playing first team football for one club or warming the bench for a bigger club

That is exactly what I'm worried about. We've never had as bad of a injury problem as we have now.

Not really the first. I think we are in an awful position as we have very little squad depth. This is what I'm worried about. We do have great players up front. Don't get me wrong. But one of them gets injured. We are screwed.

This is why I'm surprised we are not taking this seriously enough. Like you said. We are so close to the relegation and an injury could easily destroy us. We also have multiple out of contracts at the end. Making our squad even thinner.
