This lad needs his own thread.

Two senior games, against top four sides and not only has he not put a foot wrong, he's shown class in both.

He's been with Palace since (I think) 11 years old.

Absolutely looks like he'll make the position his own. Great feet, great positioning, concentration and timing.

Really pleased for the lad....

Hopefully he's the start of a few who will step up and break through over the next couple seasons.

Certainly looks the real deal. Joel will struggle to get his place back now.

A great display tonight. That challenge on Rashford was fantastic. He understandably lacks some positional awareness, but fortunately we have a hard worker in Townsend to help him out.

He must already be worth £20 million. Have we got any more stars coming through?

Agree. He was tremendous tonight. And, yes, there are a few other youngsters waiting for their opportunity to shine. It's a shame they only get an opportunity when we're injury-stricken. Hoping we avoid the drop and can afford to blood more young talent from a position of mid tsble security next season.

Excellent performance from him. Mourinho put Rashford up against him on purpose and the youngster did an excellent job and was not in anyway outclassed. If we stay up or go down we now know we have an good 1st or 2nd right back option

It may not be a popular statement on this forum but I would give the kid a rest on Saturday and play TFM. These last few days would have been physically and mentally draining for him and have probably taken a lot out of him. Two games on TV, one of which was a debut against top class opposition will have been pretty tough and he needs to be managed carefully.

Said during the game whatever division we end up in next season we’ve saved some money on having to buy a right back. I know two games might be a bit soon to judge but looks really good so far. Pre season zaha said he was the one player in training he hated playing against because of his never give up attitude and you definitely saw some of this in the second half against Rashford.(I sit in the main stand so can’t always tell about the first half). Going forward today looked more promising than against spurs where he had fewer chances. With tfm eligible against Chelsea again who would you chose ??

Agree with just about everything. We said during the game he just doesn’t seem phased by these big teams nor the superstars in them - looks far from a rookie. Easily MoM tonight.

Probably, no, definitely the biggest positive to come out of our injury crisis.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!
