I don't think it a good idea to politicise a national day for an individual.

Would he suggest that July 4th be re-named after (insert name of any prominent American), of course not because it will offend a section of the population whoever you pick.

As for Mr Adams I believe in forgive and forget but he really takes me to the limit on that.

Agreed lol. Isolated a whole community in Ireland with that statement. It's like renaming it "Gusty Spence Day"

Yeah, I meant the New York major doing it.... for what it's worth I told him what I thought about it on Twitter.

Certain north Americans bankrolled the IRA for years. They had a very rose tinted view of the troubles over there, even when it was found that the IRA were in bed with Gadaffi.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

It's about as sensible as our celebrating 4th July as Osama Bin Laden day

Damm that's a good point however I stand by my comments.

Do the Irish really celebrate the life of St Patrick on that day or do they celebrate their Irishness / nationality?
