Hennessy

AWB Tomkins Sakho PVA

Cabaye Luka McArthur

Townsend RLC Zaha

I didn’t hear Roy didn’t mention if Tomkins was fit but providing he is I’d imagine this won’t be far off the starting line up! I’d have RLC playing just behind Andros and Wilf and I’d have them starting wide when we’re in possession!

But he also said there is no one new back this week so assume Tomkins is still out so I’ll say kelly Sakho cb pairing once again hopefully they can get their act together for this weekend

Agree.

Also is there any chance of Roy introducing a youth team striker similar to his introduction of AWB ?

One thing for sure is that we’re going to have a very weak subs bench.

We have our 2 January transfers to call on, Messrs Jach and Rakip !

This is probably just about the best team we could put out under the circumstances (except with Kelly in for Tomkins as I don't think he's fit) - the alternative is to revert to Zaha and Andros as a front 2 with RLC & Macca playing wide in a 4-4-2.

It's typical how we finally get out of the difficult fixtures and then in our first match we look a bit thin!

We'll win though, only need another few penalties to stay up haha.

We can all choose what we believe is the best team to play Bournemouth in the circumstances.

At the end of the day selection might be determined by detailed analysis into how Bournemouth play and we are just not party to that information.Hodgson,Lewington etc will have those details.

looks good with Tomkins and Sorloth still unfit and Benteke now groin strained and uncertain.

I don't think detailed analysis had had anything at all to do with who has played this season. Roy has pretty much just played exactly the same team depending on who is actually fit. This will continue to the end of the season now as we have no other options.

I understand your sentiments.

However with Benteke missing there are a few options, as suggested by posters on here, and selection in terms of where players actually play may be determined by the analysis of how Bournemouth perform. With no strikers available this is a conundrum for Hodgson - If Sorloth was fit the vast majority of us would probably be 100% correct in predicting the team.

I think Bournemouth would like to play a 4-3-3 which would suit us without Benteke. However, if Stanislas is out, he went off injured last week, they might revert to a 4-4-2 with Defoe and Wilson up front or stick with 4-3-3 and play Defoe, Wilson and Ibe up front. So either a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 could be used by us. If RLC is started either formation would work.

Just did a quick check of the games we played earlier this season when Tekkers was injured. Apart from the battering by Utd, where we played a 4-3-3, we consistently put out a 4-4-2. We did have Schlupp in that left midfield role but Jimmy Mac has also played there. In those six games using 4-4-2 against Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham, Spurs, Everton and Stoke we won 2, drew 2 and lost 2. I'd be happy if a 4-4-2 got us 8 points over the next six games again.
