...just walked out of Ipswich after apparently having lost the goodwill of the fans.

in his postmatch interview he highlighted one of the highs of his time at Ipswich was when they beat us...just shows what high regard a big scalp like Palace is to a championship club.

Personally, i think its Ipswich's loss, and will be a gain for wherever he goes next. Certainly more employable than Pardew.

When McCarthy went to Ipswich in season 2012/13 they were rock-bottom after 13 games. They finished 14th.
Season 2013/14 9th
Season 2014/15 6th Lost in the play-offs to Norwich
Season 2015/16 7th
Season 2016/17 16th
Season 2017/18 When he left them this week they were 12th.

I am sure he will be in a job next season.

Looking at some of the players in the current squad he signed for money, I believe the fees paid were :
Webster £750K, Huws £1 Mill, Ward £700K, Garner £1 Mill, Waghorn £990K.
Not sure if he paid any money for Bialkowski.
But there are lots in the current squad who were signed on a 'Free'.

That's the problem with management these days you always have to improve season on season, irrespective of budget.

Will fans accept mediocrity every year on the basis the manager doesn't have a budget to get promoted?

i predict ipswich will drift down the table, like Stoke did.

fans get too ambitious for a small budget ? give grief to a good manager ? pay the price.

Ipswich loss is (probably) WBA gain. If and when they appoint him, he will do well for them I think.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

In their last 20 games of last season, Ipswich were the Draw specialists drawing 10 of them but they only won 4 of these games and finished 16th.Given that Ipswich finished 7th the previous season perhaps for supporters they saw the team in a decline.

However, Ipswich started well this season, winning their first 4 league games and winning 6 of their first 10 league games, however overall it would appear that supporters weren't happy with McCarthy and he left with the club in 12th place.

Prior to the 1-0 home win against Barnsley in his last game,Ipswich had not won in their previous 6 home games, only scoring 2 goals in those games so it is possible that this fuelled further criticism towards him.

I've not heard him linked with WBA. The club have appointed a 'Technical Consultant' yesterday and he will be involved in the selection of the new manager based on WBA's requirements - I understand they want a more flamboyant, forward thinking team.

Regards Ipswich, I am informed that Lincoln manager Danny Cowley has been linked with the job, a manager who has managed non-league Concord Rangers and Braintree Town.

That's what I thought, straight back to the midlands for him.

He is a former Wolves manager so this wouldn't go down too well with the WBA supporters !

Brighton have had Coppell, Hinshelwood and Taylor.
Bruce has managed Birmingham and Villa.
Benitez went to Chelsea.
Mark Hughes managed Man City.
We employed Mullary, and Venables for a second time.
