I was expecting this. He obviously hasnít proved himself enough on consistency and mental attitude. He was average to poor for most of 18/19 and then turned it on at the end. Before that he was excellent for 2 seasons and was always improving before that.

I recognise there's an attitude problem from Wilf on the pitch when you would rather see him win the ball back rather than look to the ref for a decision. Doesn't help that he often seems incredibly hard done by.

However Rudi, you flippantly list his season performance as though you don't recognise his value to the team, which I doubt is true. He has shown consistency like any other player and should his form have dipped last season as you suggest he hasn't let spiral like Benteke, for example, or Andros in past seasons. I believe this shows maturity given the pressure we fans and the club (aka 80mil GBP tag) place upon him. (Read comments above about us being in the cack etc)

I believe he has proven himself on the pitch enough to warrant a move to a bigger club here or abroad. However, he is not worth to anyone else what he is to us, so I don't see it happening. If that affects his game in the early season then you can call him out for it, but he hasn't got anything to prove. Not even to those who are wondering why he doesn't squash the rumours.

Never in a million years Napoli would spend those money on a player.
There's no such money in Italy, if not from Juventus.

Sorry but for large chunks of last season there were question marks over Zaha and the performances werenít particularly inspiring, hence the appreciation of AWB and Townsend more. Sure there were moments of brilliance somewhere on the field entertaining the Selhurst fans, but for large parts of last season he wasnít close to the previous 2 seasons where IMO I thought he was really excellent. You could possibly put that down to players lost in Cabaye and RLC but they all have to get on with it, like he has to when heís fouled for however many times in a row. Not all of those matches were against Watford.

It doesnít help his or our chances and like Iíve said before, tennis players use the same psychological security blanket when they berate themselves on court. Itís an easy way out of facing the issues and staying in that comfort zone of not dealing with the reality they can.

There have been Ďstraight denialsí from Napoli about a move for Wilfried Zaha.

He had been scouted by the Serie A side and followed by manager Carlo Ancelotti, but they decided not to make a move for the player as he would Ďcost too muchí.

Next!

Iím gonna get slated but I agree with you Rudi. Wilfís got talent but his attitude is s*** and he runs down rabbit holes when a simple pass will do...for those two reasons he still plays for us. He melted at Man U and I donít reckon a top six is really interested theyíll just use him as bait to get theIr real targets. He could quite easily as I said before put all this to bed by saying something but he hasnít so his silence speaks volumes. We should have sold Wilf instead of AWB, who I think we will regret selling as we like have got proper striker in as Ayew, Schlupp, Kirby and Townsend can all play his role. Hopefully the club come to their senses before the end of the window otherwise itís the championship for us next season I fear.

I donít use twitter but on the basis no-one has picked anything up and posted here about him returning to training today, Iím guessing he hasnít. If he was indeed due to start training today then that is possibly a worry.

Surely if he is a happy Palace player it would be easy to post a short note, ďback to work todayĒ or similar. The silence speaks volumes.

Whether we accept a bid for him or not has little to do with Wilf, so how can he put this to bed?

Did he? The last post on his twitter and Instagram was 3 days ago, he was about to go in and watch a movie and was switching his phone off to stop the distractions.

...and whether or not we accept a bid has nothing to do with whether he leaves. Transfers are a 3 way thing, selling club, buying club and player. All three have to agree.

What he can do is put the media speculation to bed by saying he either:

1) wants to leave
2) is happy to stay
3) wants to leave but is happy to stay for one more season

Itís not difficult and I think the fans who have supported him through good and bad times deserve a bit more communication and honesty.

I think Zaha will leave if, and only if, they find suitable replacements. No single player can replace him, not for what we will spend, (because no bid will be high enough) so it will mean two or three players coming in, a good striker, an attacking midfielder at the very least.

We also have our hands full trying to get a left back, a right back and central defensive cover.

Only two of the bids and related stories have proved to be true, I consider everything else, especially from Sky, to be fake news to generate clicks and bets.

Regarding Wilf. I think he would "like" to leave, perhaps even discussing it with Steve Parish. I think he has been told he "can" leave but only if the offer is good enough.

Regarding all of the "sources", Wilf's agent, family, friends, a cleaner with his/her ear to the door, eavesdropping; most of them are just taking money for gossip, not to be taken seriously. How much Wilf knows about the rumours, how much involvement he has, is anyone's guess, though I'm sure he's not entirely innocent.

Personally, I think Wilf is now staying, will be pictured back in training soon, and the season will kick off and this crap will die down until January.
