Probably just drummed up by a journalist who thinks he can spin "pals with Palace player = nailed on signing" but nevertheless.

It was Dick Advocaat who signed him on Loan for Sunderland from Rubin Kazan. Had a chequered reputation when he arrived at Sunderland - breaking curfew, night behind bars for an alleged assault, allegations of him trashing his Moscow flat and allegedly hitting a restaurant owner. I hope we do not start to look at players just to keep others happy. Personally, I would steer clear given his past. Plus the amount we would pay him p/w and the length of contact could be a longer term issue if things go pear shaped.

I had a recollection of M'Vila scoring from a free kick but couldn't remember when and the opponents so I did some research and discovered the following : "On 29 August, M'Vila scored his first Sunderland goal, a long range free-kick against Aston Villa" As you know I do like a good free kick (!) and given that it was long-range perhaps this is why I had some sort of recollection.When I saw your comments, doubts crept in hence my looking into it. I think he scored twice, that's what I could find. I doubt we can consider him for taking free kicks regularly.
