If there is any doubts as to the value of todays game, the consquences are detailed in the BBC report:

Almost £10m swing between coming 15th and 10th spot where we could well end up.

Goal feast please. See you all there.

And there were some on here who thought it was a "nothing game" where we could put out the U23s

I calculated this to be nearly 8 million?

I hope the players appreciate the seriousness of extra money for a club like ours.

Ok, let's do the maths:

£21.4m - 10th place
£11.6m - 15th place

£9.8m difference (ignore costs, tax etc etc)

Not quite £10m but nor £8m either.

Best position in our recent premiership tenure too.

COYP

Would equal our best position (2014/15).

The money is important yes, but the real value of today’s game has been hugely overlooked unless I’ve missed it.
Finishing above Brighton. For many reasons but not least of all the d*ck who (under police guard) was walking up the holmesdale shouting about “where are you in league, oh yeah below us”. I’m sure we have plenty of annoying fans but this guy really got on my tits and whilst I’ll never see him again I’ll get a lot of satisfaction knowing he’s at home hoping people don’t remember him saying that.

Although I’d probably give money to see the comeuppance of any young upstart, where Brighton are bothers me not one bit. You’re most definitely not alone with these sentiments I guess.

Glad we came out so well in the end. Closer to Europe than relegation. Let’s not give everyone such a head start next season huh?!

Ok great result and party, shame Newcastle did not slip up. I am sure £19.4m rather than £11.6m will be well received by the board.

Bring on the 2018-2019 season

Well Chelsea were once again an absolute disgrace and didn't bother their arses. How their fans can be proud of them I don't know. Still we did the business and made sure no-one else caught us up - who wouldn't have taken eleventh with forty-four points if offered it in October? Fantastic achievement over the rest of the season.
