As I write this I am sitting in the bar at Covent Garden. Took the Mrs to the Opera House to see Swan Lake tonight. Have left her in her seat and escaped. Honestly don't think I have ever been so bored in my entire life. I'm sure most Brightons love watching boys running round in tights but I fail to see any appeal. Makes me realise two things, one how much I miss football and two, never marry someone from the class above you.

Go to the ballet now and then with the MRs and enjoy it . The movement , the strength and the control are to be admired . Throw in a good story , a bit of love and passion and what's not to like .
And we still need a striker |

Now I'm a proper classical music buff but I do find ballet a bit tedious. I prefer opera to ballet and I prefer a good symphony to opera. Years ago my father thought it was a special treat to go and sit through Khovanshchina; this is a five-and-a half-hour opera by Mussourgsky about some chapter in Russian mediaeval history and although I was at the time both a music fan and a Russian scholar it bored the arse off me. Wagner I found more palatable, bel canto better still but Mozart is the bollocks. Oh, and Puccini you can stick up your arse. It was left to my uncle to escort me to Selhurst Park. That t*** supported the clowns.

You have to admire the dancing, though it is very noisy on 'the boards'. I find it a bit unnerving, as the blokes seem to have cucumbers in the front of their tights, and the women all look like 12 year olds pre-ordering drinks for the interval is essential
