After all the comments about Wild potentially leaving and how we couldn't manage without him it got me thinking about whether we had 3 other players who might provoke a similar reaction if they were being seriously targeted by other teams.

My 3 were -

AWB - so much potential and in a few years possibly worth more than Wilf. Massive example to the other young players.

Luka - has been so influential and is a great captain - leads by example and is probably one of the PL's most underrated players.

PVA - probably our most improved player in the last 12 months - a few defensive frailties but those are outweighed by his general contribution and passion for the club.

The thing that gave me the most optimism though was the fact that it was actually really hard to pick 3 - there were at least another 3 very strong contenders.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

We're in trouble if one of our centre-backs gets injured.

Zaha is the obvious.
Luka- no defensive alternative

The rest I would say are I.e we have left back cover for pva and awb etc, but they are our best options

Reiderwald is lukas understudy. Of course not as good. But he plays that position.

Sakho for me.

Tomkins has been brilliant as well but since Sakho's had a regular run of games, the two of them together have formed a solid partnership for the team to build their attacks from. This wasn't the case when Sakho was out and Tomkins was beside Dann or Kelly.

Luka also gets a small mention, I thought Cabaye would be a big loss in the middle as he seemed to be the ball playing midfielder but Luka has taken the role up very easily alongside MacArthur.

yes, whatever would we do. Play a new keeper who seems quite settled now? Nah, not possible...
