You mean Cardiff ... the Swans went down last year. If we don't start putting away some goals and racking up some points then we'll be joining them.

Cardiff yes, sorry. Got my Welsh mixed up.

Of the OP list of worse teams it should be noted that we have beaten both Fulham and Huddersfield already this season. Anyone who had watched those 2 games would know in each case we were extremely lucky to do so.
Until we find someone who can score goals these teams are undoubtedly our peer group

We should stay up. I think we are very close to being decent, fine margins and all that.

Sunday was a really good performance and I think confidence in the team should be on the up.

As we all know goals is the issue but we have been in worse spots than this.

Its just gutting that coming into the season on the back of performances in the spring we all hoped for more than just staying up.

For every game we've supposedly been lucky, there is one where we've been unlucky. But you're right, those teams will definitely be the ones we're battling come spring.

Fulham have a long way to go to turn it around. Dreadful team with a sieve of a defence.

They have fielded 12 different back fours and made 68 team changes.Think they have spent nearly £100 Mill in pre-season transfers.Next game - Away to Huddersfield.

Sunday really told me that our newer players hadn't previously gelled/performed. On Sunday they showed a lot more of what they're about, individually and in terms of what they brought to the team's collective performance. If that wasn't a one off, if there's more to come from them, then we are going to drift up the table. We also need just a little bit more from Meyer. If we get it, then the bottom three won't be a talking point for us.

What you have to remember too is, against Arsenal we matched them, played good football, it wasn’t kick and rush or counter attacking, certainly wasn’t even us having to put muscle them to compete, we matched them not far off with technical ability. Obviously we are no where near their standard but the distance between us compared to them or Huddersfield compared to them is far far less.

We just need a good striker, to get Roy to understand earlier subs is a good thing, and to not have to rely on wilf quite as much (in other words this new striker has to be the dogs bollox) and we’ll be where we all thought we’d be at the start of the season, just behind Everton in standard.

Newcastle - can’t buy a goal.
Huddersfield - lack of quality.
Cardiff - Colin.

Who is this new striker, you refer too?

Take the bottom half of the table and remove us and you have 9 worse teams.

Also think we could finish above any of Everton, Watford and Bournemouth.

Not saying we will finish 7th but more likely top half in my opinion.

Despite our goal scoring woes and relatively poor start we clearly have quality players starting to work in a system and a decent manager.

The poor start has been mainly down to the change of personal in midfield in my view and it's taken longer than I expected for that to improve (possibly this relates to the ongoing Meyer "situation".

We need a decent striker in January though. No excuses this time.

We all think that. But realistically, who within an affordable price bracket will guarantee us goals......??

I'd like a loan move for Solanke but that is a gamble in itself. From the championship would Maupay, Dack or Watkins to name but a few give us goals? And what fee would likely be needed to get one of them. Looking abroad would possibly be the way to go but I am not at all sure about our scouting ability.

We're not playing as bad as our results would suggest and I'm confident we'll be ok. Annoyingly we always start badly and will improve as the season goes on.

We'll finish above Huddersfield, Cardiff, Newcastle, Fulham and Southampton. Surely either one of Sorloth, Ayew, Wickham on Beneteke have got to get scoring at some point. If not the Zaha/Townsend combo has worked well in the past. Last chance saloon will be to spend £25m on a striker in Jan. I also expect us to more creative once Meyer gets a run, he looks quality to me.

After the Everton & Arsenal performances I'm feeling a lot more optimistic. No need to panic just yet.
