Complacency vs Cardiff

It would be in true Palace fashion to go and lose 1-0 against Cardiff on Boxing Day following on from our (quite frankly ridiculous) win against City. Maybe a 4-5-1 formation, as deployed against Man City, gives us rigidity but also allows us to counter attack in numbers. Yes, it’s not a glamorous formation and yes, we won’t be playing like Barcelona of the 08/09/10 seasons anytime soon but we’re Palace! I hope the lads don’t get carried away and I trust roy will keep their feet firmly on the ground. I’d say 4-5-1 with big Sorloth upfront against the battering rams of Cardiff and revert Wilf back to the wing, resting Macca or Meyer.

I feel quite confident that the players will not get carried away by the Man C victory and will be fully focussed on the Cardiff game, realising that this is another challenge and that any dearth of concentration and application could prove fatal.Another game and it is imperative that this is not a case of "After the Lord Mayor;s show". I suspect that the message from Hodgson will be along these lines.

After we shocked the premier league with a 1-0 victory at selhurst, against chelsea, courtesy of a Terry og, wasn't our next game away at Cardiff and we won 3-0? If so I hope history repeats itself.

Call me a passion killer, but it is a much more important and better result to beat Cardiff. Wins against the likes of Citibank are glorious but we must learn to regularly earn our bread and butter points from the dross at the bottom.

Cardiff's players still seem very united, which, under Warnock, means plenty of enthusiastic and agricultural bang-it-and-whack-it play. The fact they are currently outside the drop zone means they are chasing a huge prize and will come to the game with a very positive mindset. If it becomes a war of attrition, which is very possible, then it'll too close to call. I think we have more quality though, and I trust Roy to make it shine through.

If Wilf is carrying an injury I wonder if we should rest him for this one. I expect Farmer Warnock is already telling his players to get agricultural with Wilf. I too am concerned about the after the Lord Mayor's show I hope I am wrong. The players put in a shift against City and must have run themselves into the ground. C'mon lads once more for the days you missed in training.

How our teams and individuals, some that have never achieved a great deal at that moment in time or ever do, can be complacent is really poor and probably explains why they don’t reach higher heights.

Totally agree with this, we must play an out and out striker for this game. If nothing else he will create space for Andros and wilf who could then create havoc by playing a bit deeper.

Absolutely right but firstly we are at home,secondly Brighton had only lost once at home (Against Tottenham) and thirdly Cardiff's away record is far from impressive. I am fairly convinced that complacency wasn't the reason why we lost at Brighton and I cannot see us going into the Cardiff game with that attitude.We all hope that after that stupendous victory against Man C, the Cardiff game is not a case of "After the Lord Mayor's show". As long as they are sensible with the turkey and Christmas pud. Oh and as pointed out earlier Cardiff at the weekend were so pony and toilet that you just can't see Colin fixing it by then.
