Ditto to all of that! Will never forget the match against Brazil in then 1970 World Cup. A truly amazing save which to me is still the best of all time. Very sad news! RIP Gordon. Originally posted by Cucking Funt
England's best ever keeper, in England's best ever side (better than 66, imo) against the world's best ever side. The man was a Colossus in the pantheon of footballing greats. RIP - one of my first true heroes.

Pele himself said 'I scored over 1000 goals, and all people talk about when they remember me is that save by Banks' And what a save it was!! RIP the original Banksy.

It’s nice that whereas most goal keepers are remembered for their mistakes he’s remembered for his saves. Along with Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore he was an all time great.

Drove down with my old man yesterday to the Stoke to pay my respects. I never met the legend Gordan Banks but my dad met him countless times. A thoroughly nice human being and a gentleman. My old man was in tears
