The new Steve coogan / Alan partridge comedy, was really looking forward to this, but what a massive let down, not remotely funny imho apparently there are another 5 episodes, I doubt I'll bother, booo

Steve Coogan is not in the least bit funny.
Selling the programme as a comedy contravenes the trade descriptionns act.

It's not all bad though, he excelled as Stan in Stan & Ollie

I thought there were one or two good bits, but few and far between. If you saw mid-morning matters that was brilliant but this was just a watered down version.

I thought it was ok. It started off very realistically with the One Show type setting but got more OTT as it went on.

Coogan is very funny. Partridge WAS superb. The collection of world cup commentaries on The Day Today remains one of the funniest things ever. As was his "interview" with the Australian equestrian. Paul/Pauline Calf brilliant. The Trip - sublime. I even liked his Portuguese character.

But Papa Alpha; and last night. Wheels off. Horse flogged. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

I never found him funny.

Never found reeves and Mortimer funny. But bob on would I lie to you is a breathe of fresh air and hilarious.

We’re all different in what we find amusing eh

top comedy for me is dropping a large dollop of wallpaper adhesive down a fellow decorators Dagenham cleavage when the chaps bending over revealing too much arse.

For me most situation comedy has to have an underlying thread of believability to it. Watching this last night I was continually thinking that Partridge is so bad that there is no way he would ever have been employed in that role.

Having said that there were some "moments" in it. The hand-washing and hygiene bit did capture the essence some of those trivial, purporting to be serious, features you get on The One Show and, in the past, programmes like Pebble Mill.

Susannah Fielding was also very good, and very believable, as the co-host.

So in essence, very much true to form.

Personally I really enjoyed it. Some real belly laughs at some stages and I thought the One show parody idea was pretty cool. Also brave having this without an audience, it added to the slight cringyness of it all.

I also like that the character setting changes, this is his first TV chat show since Knowing Me Knowing You 25 years ago. Everything else has been a bit different which is unusual for a comedy character.

I have found him funny at times to be fair, but people I know that have met him said he's a total c**t in real life.

I don't know if it's that, or the fact he is in virtually every single film and TV show made within the last ten years, that's made me utterly sick of him.
