Firstly I have no idea why this post is in transfer talk, we're not trying to sign any of them.

Why not? Some are affordable

Like the afforementioned Sane, who costs not more than 100 million ))

Did I say exactly 20 million? I don't remember that, but if I did I meant it because I didn't know how much other clubs were willing to offer. He's not gonna be 21-22 forever and his value will go down after this season, I maintain my opinion that cashing in this summer would be the best thing.

If they offer 30 or 40 million, all for the better. But next summer or 2 summers from now they won't be offering that much anymore for a 23-24 year old.

He's only going to get better so not sure how his value is going to go down? He will stay with us for next season, become an even better player than he is now and be worth more. So selling him this summer isn't the best thing to do.

Didn't City pay around £50mill for Walker when he was older than 24? I think he was 27.

23-24 isn't very old in football.

It depends on a lot of things. That figure City paid for Walker was for a player from Tottenham, considered at that time one of the top 3 right backs in the world. Selling from Palace is not the same as selling from Tottenham. Granted, inflation rises rapidly in football, but that also means that what will be 50 million in 3 years from now will be worth what 30 million is today.

And it also depends on how much longer that player is tied to the club. Don't remember exactly Walker's contract, but AWB has a contract till 2022, having signed 1 year ago for 4 years. The closer you get to that point, the lower the selling value will be. It's difficult to think that the club will convince him to sign a new contract given that every player wants to make the step up and with all these big teams around him who are just telling him to come to them, signing a new Palace contract and making it more difficult for them to buy him would not be a good move from his perspective.

And anyway, 3-4 years left of the contract is the best any club could hope for when they sell a player. That is when you can get the maximum price. That time is now. Next summer he'll only have 2 years left and it will be a round the clock race to get him to sign a new contract or sell

Could easily sign new contracts just like Zaha. I think he's due a pay rise anyway after the season he's just had.

Another season like this one and he'll defiantly be worth more than he is right now.

Not quite your assessments are always stats based../ how many times must you be told stats mean very little, it is a players overall contribution to the team. Bernardo miles better than Sane this year due to his OVERALL contribution

I don't think you know what overall means.

Does BS have greater speed?

Does more pressing?

Helps recover more balls?

Tackles more? Is physically stronger to win more duels?

Only thing he does better "overall" is pass with greater accuracy

I can remember Trevor Francis describing Ade Akinbiyi as the ‘best defensive centre forward’ he had ever seen because he had exactly those qualities.

Shame you don’t rate passing with accuracy quite so highly....

Firstly I do know the meaning of overall thank you.

Sane is quicker agreed
BS does more pressing, recovers more balls, tackles more, is physically stronger IMHO.
Presumably you have stats that say different but I go by what I see week in week out not stats

Ok, I respect that, finally a decent answer from you.

You see what you see and you stick by that. Time will tell which one of us was right.

But, without wanting to insult, are you sure you're not confusing BS with David Silva for the pressing, recovering and tackles part?

Sane rested again today.. he must be one tired chap.

Meanwhile, Bernardo starts again and created the second with a stunning through ball.

Yeah, you're bringing all this up now, but in a year's time, when I bring back old posts to tell what an idiot you were, you ask me why I revive old posts.

We'll see how this develops in a year or two. No point in making so much out of it when clearly Guardiola has a conflict with Sane these days because he doesn't want to extend his contract, same way he had a "conflict" with Jadon Sancho.

Forgive me, but the title of your thread is “top 40 players this season” so the next year or two are entirely irrelevant.

The comparison was on who’s had a better season.

Did you catch Bernardo’s assist for the fifth by the way?
