The Crystal Palace quality ones I'd say are Brahimi (but hard to obtain, he supposedly wants a lot of money as a free agent and is in talks with Arsenal), Ribery (Doh, if he'd ever come to Palace!), Fabio Coentrao (left back, quality), Dani Alves (but not for us), Johannes Geis (defensive midfielder), LEWIS HOLTBY (central or attacking midfielder, Cabaye type of player), ELI DASA (Israeli right back, best in their league).

Maybe central midfielder Abeid would be good, but I'd definitely go for Holtby first. Abeid is with Algeria in the African Nations Cup semi-finals (with Brahimi, Mahrez, the striker Bounedjah who would also be good for Palace and others).

Jack Rodwell could be a low-cost signing as defensive midfielder.

Rest....

Well, center forward Nikolaos Karelis was the best in Belgium until 1 year when he broke his leg. Unsure if he'll ever reach that level again.

Dennis Eckert at 22 is one for the future, might grow.

Sturridge and Welbeck are injury prone and demand a lot of money, probably more than what they can offer.

Balotelli is lazy and with a bad attitude.

Cahill, Ben Arfa, Susaeta, Okazaki, Llorente, Keisuke Honda, Juanfran, Filipe Luis, Leroy Fer are by now old.

Wilfried Bony got as big and as slow as an elephant.

Martin Olsson is only decent defensively, not at all offensively (I'd prefer Coentrao).

The gk Adrian might be good as a backup, as he's not old for a gk at 32.

Lazar Markovic used to be very promising, but he needs playing time and to get in shape. He needs a lot of minutes before getting PL time again. And he needs to prove himself at a lesser level.

Conclusion: I'd take Lewis Holtby and Eli Dasa in a heartbeat. They're better than anything I've seen linked with us in the central midfield and right back zones. And they would be pretty cheap and not demand gigantic salaries for the Premier League.

Look at his record at Sunderland, they couldn't wait to get rid of him and they are in Division 1. Absolutely not

Maybe. But he didn't play for them in League One. He only played for Sunderland in the Premier League and in the Championship. He then moved on to Blackburn and played quite a lot of matches last year.

28 years old. Good mobility. Man City had paid for him 15 million 6 years ago. Not saying that I like the player a lot, but at 0 cost he'd be a decent addition for the 4th central midfielder role. He'd hardly get playing time anyway.

Because he was always "allegedly" injured. He was earning an absolute fortune. If you can watch the documentary "Sunderland til I die" I think he was mentioned in that. It is also very informative into how transfers work. So still a big no from me

Holtby apparently signing for Besiktas of Turkey on a 30.000 euros a week salary.

Camarasa is below Lewis Holtby in quality. Doesn't have the same movement, far from the same technique, not even the same mobility in my opinion. His only good season was last year for a relegated team, while Holtby has had constant seasons for 10 years. Camarasa is a few years younger, but also tens of millions more expensive (judging salaries too)

So if this is true this beggars the question why the hell didn't we go after Holtby or did we?? No rumours as such. At 30,000 Eur that's cheap.

Bring back Brolin

Camarasa was decent with Cardiff and they rate him very very highly. He'll be a good signing if he joins. Also he's only 25.

Holtby would also be good but no big deal if we get camarasa.

Rodwell and Adam Johnson tho.... That's just shocking from someone who comes on here thinking they're more knowledgable than everyone else.

Why would free players be shocking?

I only mentioned Rodwell like a 4th choice central midfielder, someone who'd only be there for Cup matches or in situations of injury crisis. And johnson is shocking? He's put aside because of personal life conviction, not because he wouldn't be a good footballer.

For the same reason no other club in a decent European league thought he was worth taking on a free at 30k a week...
