Ssn had John Barnes on the other day and he told them ( much to their very obvious disappointment ) that the tweet wasn't offensive or racist.
He also asked why people were offended on Mendys behalf when he himself had no problem with it.
Btw if you watch the documentary on Citeh on prime, Bernado is probably the most popular bloke at the club.

I guess the arguement is more that this is public vs private. A joke between friends in private it's up to them and rightly so. A joke in the public domain i.e t***ter which is like shouting that same joke across a busy high street. Someone could well be offended (most likely as it's not meant for them) and then others love to start being offended on behalf of someone else who's been offended etc etc. Once this happens there's a story to be made and some 'clicks' to be had.

The simple solution don't use t***ter.

Haha I thought I was being clever by replacing the I for an A in twitter. Damn algorithm got me...its the end of free speech and the end to society! Don't trust the algorithms

I think a distinction has to be made between being racially offensive and racially insensitive - this would fall into the latter for me. Bernardo is clearly not a racist, but equally someone of his profile is never going to have a free pass to put things like that in the public domain - him and Mendy obviously have a good enough relationship that jokes like that are fine between them, but approach a black stranger with that cartoon and say you look like him and see what sort of reaction you get - if people see him get away with that on a Twitter, it normalises the behaviour.
