Agree with this.

My concern is how long can we continue going like this. It feels like we've been on the decline for an Age now, and we believe that our continued survival is proof enough that we have a good enough team to continue to do so.

RH is doing what he can, but it is like he is being suffocated. His post match interview on motd2 cut a very bleak picture, with the "We cant score goals with the players we've got" lines. He Seems resigned to simply making us hard to beat, and that's the best he can do.

For me, we need more players. We know we have little to spend, but that just means that those we do buy must be correct. We have spent money in those two years, but none, bar Cahill have had any time on the pitch for whatever reason. For Cahill to be our best signing in 2 years is pretty pathetic. All this while other clubs like Leicester and even Brighton are unearthing better players from the Arseend of nowhere and improving.

We have a good core squad. Only a couple of decent and correct players will make all the difference to us, and wil get us moving in the right direction. If we continue going as we are and buying benchwarmers, then one of the next few seasons will be a relegation season.

Apropos Roy Hodgson,he fully understands the limitations and I believe he has said himself that his sole objective is to ensure we stave off relegation.

Regards the squad, we have an ageing defence with central defenders, who whilst they have peformed with aplomb thus far, lack pace.
We have midfielders who are workhorses yet lack creativity and some of them are in their 30s or not far off.
In attack we have Ayew, who admittedly has performed far better than was expected, aided and abetted by the likes of Benteke and Wickham.

And that will always be the issue with Hodgson. Heís a safe bet. He will get us over the line. However itís frustrating to watch his team, especially at home. We just donít have the creative minds to create opportunities. However again, the stats donít always prove this theory, again we pretty much matched Leicester on the stats. Roy has a style of play and will not deter from that. The trusted midfielders he continually plays are all far too samey. Not one of them is fully attack minded and thatís Royís style. The players have to fit the mould. Luka has been poor for a while, Kouyate for all his hard work breaking down play has a nose bleed when he tries to go forward and Macca does a good job all round in fairness. Schlupp, Iím sorry I donít get him and Royís opinion of him. The juryís out with Max for me but why donít we give him more of a run out? Camarasa is a mystery. I was excited when he joined a type of player we donít have that creative on the ball and can score goals. Roy being Roy canít accommodate him into his rigid game plan. Iím torn with Roy because heís doing a job, but I just feel he could afford be a little more expansive. Weíve seen that Leicester games so many times with Roy. Iím not even sure transfers are the answer. Do we all really think that if we brought in any attacking players that Roy would actually play them? The subs, when he actually makes subs donít make sense to me. Royís not in the least bit adaptable to a game, no matter who is in front of us - itís the same over and over again. Like I said with Roy at the helm we are likely to have PL football again next season so you canít knock him for that but when you have Parish coming out saying he wants to compete at the top end of the league (with no money I hasten to add) itís laughable with Roy in charge

Good post. I don't even look forward to home games any more. It's just so boring. We've scored in the first half in I think 5 of our last 26 home games. No we don't have a great number of alternatives when it comes to the first XI, but RH does not help with his dire 'safety-first' approach, especially at home. His only tactic seems to be to keep it tight for the first 60 mins and then perhaps attack a bit towards the end and hope that Zaha will fall over an outstretched leg and win a penalty. And he keeps playing people out of position. Yesterday we had McArthur playing right wing with the awful Schlupp in central midfield - does anyone understand why he is in the side as his contributes nothing and has perhaps the worst first-touch of anyone in the Premier League? When he (shock) brought Meyer on for the last few mins he put him out wide.

He also took our top-scorer off and replaced him with a player who has scored once in the last year and a bit, rather than playing both at once. Also, Zaha, apart from one excellent pass, was awful again. I don't understand why he will not take full-backs on anymore. Has he lost some pace or is he under orders from RH to pass it back inside whenever he gets it? He is certainly not going to attract January bids on current for - as someone said he's had 20 shots this season without a goal. Vardy has had 21 shots and scored 10 goals.

I'd also like to know why RH brought back Guaita. OK Hennessey had flapped at the corner for Arsenal's first, but his later save in the corner got us a point and he was MOTM against Man City. VG did nothing yesterday to justify his place - a straightforward tip-over, nearly conceding from a free-kick by rushing from his line and not getting there, and two goals conceded which were pretty much in the centre of the goal.

I have said it before and il say it again. Jeffrey Schlupp is up there with the worst players I have ever seen in this divison. The bloke can not actually play football. He is the number 1 reason why I scream every week. I really pray to god we sign some new players in January if only to get him off the team sheet.

Who said anything about hating? I don't think he's 100% interested and could do more. We know he can do more.

He's not sulking. This is Zaha. 1 good game in 5. He definitely looks like he has lost a lot of pace, I don't know how he has managed it but he has got slower in 3 months. He has been out sprinted by slower players numerous times this season.

Itís not just his body. His brain and anticipation have slowed to the point he isnít at this level any more while he cannot stop an opponent nipping in front of him and taking the ball or reading the usual pass a teammate makes. Heís worse than poor at the moment and if we had two wingers to select Iíd drop Zaha. Does nothing, offers nothing, but heís always in the team so therein is a problem.

£52 mil looks like a good price right now. For us.

Although we've got a good record in recent seasons against Leicester, yesterday's game looked like a tough match, and so it proved. They're a good side in fine, confident form and currently look a good bet for a top 6 place. Whether or not they can sustain that form remains to be seen.

Defensively, I thought we were just as good as they were. As always, Roy had us defensively well organised, sold and resilient (although conceding a third goal from corners in two games is a little worrying).

As every Palace fan knows, our weakness is our attacking and offensive play, and that certainly showed yesterday. That's not surprising given that our offensive midfield of McArthur, Kouyate, Schlupp, and Wilf were offensively matched against Barnes, Maddison, Tielemans and Perez. A midfield that must be worth in the region of £150m. And currently, Vardy is on a hot streak of form and we can only dream of having a striker with his scoring record and capability.

Were were beaten by the better team yesterday but gave them a tough game. We can only imagine how things might have turned out of Ayew had converted his chance early in the second half after what I thought was the best attacking move in the match.

Yes, it's frustrating watching a limited attack struggle against top 10 opponents, but Roy will consistently get the best out of the resources available to him which I'm confident will be good enough to keep us in the Prem. I do, though, look forward to when we are able to invest in some more effective attackers, and hope that won't be too far away.

I couldn't have expressed this better myself.

Must be a Sussex thing

I said the same to a mate on Saturday and he laughed at me. Zaha is only in the team every week because we have no competition. He offers nothing in defence and little
to nothing in attack most weeks. I have always said he is a great player for us because we let him away with murder but he will never play for a Champions League club.

Agree he looks like heís lost a yard. Did you see him get rinsed by Fernandinho the other week!? Not taking players on as much and slowing down play - maybe heís carrying a knock or holding back.. who knows

Something doesnt look right. I can think of 3 or 4 more occasions where it has happened and not against flying full backs.

We really are still suffering from not having a midfield playmaker. I had hoped Meyer was going to replace Cabaye but he's not tenacious enough - although they're the same size. And Roy wont build the team around him.

That said, in a strange way, I thought we were in the game on Saturday but the attacking play was limited. Perhaps that is because they're a stronger team than - say West Ham.

Roy made a tactical error playing Jimmy Mac wide right and not Wilf. I dont think Wilf is getting those through balls that he used to get.

JM is our midfield dynamo and without him central we lack drive. That said I disagree with the view that Luka played badly (although his set-piece deliveries were terrible.

I agree with the assessments of Schlupp, who should have been hooked at half-time.

Ayew was average and I can understand why he got subbed.
