If, the papers and other media are to be believed, and that's a big if ...

I would not think Ramsey a wise investment. A very good player two or three years ago, but surely we have learnt our lesson on buying older players. Yes in the case of Tomkins and Cahill, fantastic experiance brought to the team ... but look at their injury records, and that of Sakho's just leaving gaps and unsettled team balance ...

Time for a younger thread, and perhaps a new playing style ...

On 400 grand a week and often injured
Seems a natural fit

Massive pay drop not impossible. Cabayesque marquee signing. Can't see it happening though. I've seen nothing of him recently. How's he been doing?

Fantastic player but would be a foolish signing.

Aging, huge contract, likely to miss half the season through injury, no future sale value.

if this were to happen, I think I would just walk away from Palace and forget about football, until the club goes bust!!

Come on mate, you'd have a sneaky peek how he was doing, at least. Plus if we do well, we all come back. Fairweather as Steve called us.

The only way I can see this happening if he takes a massive pay drop. I wonder if he will go into management when his career ends? If so a player coach role is possible

did Steve really call us fair weather? there's always been a hard core 15,000 - now we have 10,000 'fair weathers', in the 70s we had about 25,000 of them, crowds were low during Steve's time (generally in the 80s/early 90s not just us) but fair weather can be aimed at Chelsea but not us surely, 30,000 odd of us at Wembley singing the 'we love you' song straight after the final whistle in 2016, Sir Steve should retract with a humble apology. And Ramsey seems like a fantasy, maybe they'll come up with some performance based wage structure, I don't know his contract situation but if the transfer fee is relatively low it might be worth a shout, but priority wise he'd be behind Eze, Fraser and Grujic (or another young dynamic midfielder), and we still need more cover at full back.

I think that was his point. He saw us with 8000 and with 38000, he didn't used to pull any punches. Recently we have basically had capacity but there always seems to be loads of tourists, even at Selhurst. Not as many as Liverpool and Man U though - which are nearly entirely full of Norwegians, Germans, Japanese and Londoners on a jolly.
I more wonder if Ramsey is any good anymore and if he can actually hack it in the Premier League? He was one of Arsenal's better players in a poor team when he left, but they were still miles better than us. However, I haven't watched him for years. Young Ramsey, yes. Old Ramsey, why bother? On a free and with a quarter of the wages, then fine. But that won't happen.
