He was a regular starter last season and provided Centre Back cover. If this move happens it looks like a poor decision.

It would seem odd, especially given his flexibility. Not the greatest passer but good at breaking up play, is very athletic and a good physical presence. The fact the deal is being talked about as a loan makes it even stranger.

With all transfers out like these ones it matters more what happens afterwards. Remember Ambrose and Scannell and the furore over that?

Agree if he does go seems a strange decision.
Has the flexibility to play midfield but centre back and by the injury record we have there covers well.

Any news on when Cahill, Tomkins, Sakho likely to be fit?.
Rather move Sakho on and keep Kouyate.

A squad our size cannot afford to off load PL quality players surely.

Also, why loan him at the age of 30. Sell him, get some money and put it in the kitty to buy a younger alternative, but preferably don't sell him.

I agree, Kouyate is no world beater but he has more uses than Sakho.

Another episode of Palace transfer know-how is looming (Murray, Jedinak etc.)

An injury crisis is inevitable, and Kouyate will be needed, if he is not a regular anyway holding down his place.

Maybe this is tied in with his contract ending in June 21 and wanting to recoup some of the outlay on him - especially if he has indicated he wont sign a new contract.
That said, it is leaving Roy incredibly exposed defensively in the early weeks/months of the new season with just Dann and Kelly as the only remaining options who are currently fit.

This might help, it doesn't make good reading.

If we let him go it would be a bit worrying especially if McCarthy went as well.

I agree, we can afford to lose one if the lad from Chelsea is coming in on loan, but not two. In fact out of the 2, I would rather it was McCarthy who went because Kouyate is so versatile.

Half the time it looks like we try and guarantee starting a season without a full squad!

He wouldnt be the one of the first i'd be letting go but guess depends who comes in. He certainly has his limitations but offers a lot with his versatility.
