Bill Edgar (their football statistician) has predicted
in today's paper the results to the New Year.

He says will get 7 points from our next 5 matches:
Losses to West Ham, Leicester, draw with Villa, and wins against Liverpool & Sheff Utd. And remain 11th in the table.

He also predicts Southampton to be top of the table with 36 pts and that Fulham, West Brom & Sheff Utd will lose all their 5 matches.

I'll be happy with that, being a pessimistic fan for 70 years, as we will then need only a further 16 points to achieve safety !

Others I suspect will hope for more.

So far we have averaged 1.4 points per game so Edgar is using that formula to predict 7 point.

I think our form is improving so providing Eze and Zaha stay fit I am going for 10 points.

I would be delighted if that happened, our results and the fact that we would move further away from the relegation zone.
I have been indoctrinated by our club to be eternally pessimistic, always expecting a run of defeats is just round the corner.

I think that applies to most of us "seasoned" fans it's the hope that kills you.

I'd have to say poor results kill me more than hope. That recent point against Brighton was tarnished by the performance and how undeserved it was. We could lose 4-0 to Chelsea and I won't mind so much, but the manner of a defeat and the attitude we show in games is what does it for me.

I believe that Bill Edgar has not factored in the undeniable kindness Palace show to teams who haven't won all season, and we will get done 3-0 by the Blades. Have they got a nag that hasn't scored in 3 seasons? He'll be getting a hattrick.

When I was doing prediction league I think I predicted 5 points. So will be happy with 7.

Well, Mr. Edgar's predictions already off the rails !

He said Wolves v Chelsea Draw - (Wolves won)
He said Man City v West Brom - Home win (a draw)

So won't ask him to fill in my pools coupon after all.
