A football Giant = a club normally expected to make a good account of themselves in the Champions League - at the time of signing the great player.

So Arsenal 1999 was a giant, Arsenal today...not so much.

Leicester/Man City 2001 mere minnows. Unlikely to sign a Kevin De Bruyne type player.

For starters....

1. Matt Le Tissier. A statistical superhero.

2. Alan Shearer....love him or hate him, he was loyal to his local team and paid the price for it.

Others ?

the 'Net-We-had' at the Etihad....again

I thought about him but he was at Forest when they won the European Cup in 1980 - didn’t play in the game though.

Up to the 70s/80s you'd find a few. Too much transfer madness now, and no real loyalty. Le Tiss is an exception.

George Cohen stayed at Fulham for his whole career which not many World Cup winners would do now.

Not sure If you would include him or not

Paul Gascogne. Played for Spurs but they weren’t all that at the time.

If you were looking at current players then I would say Zaha and Jack Grealish.

He won the league twice with Everton and more than a few finals when Everton were massive and competing with Liverpool.
