one of the all time, ultimate Palace rollercoster rides of a game.
Was not there, but remember the incredible result on the day, coming through.
The footage I'd seen previously (probably lost now) was different, showing the palace contingent going totally apes*** when the 4th goes in.

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

I was there. We needed to win by 2. We got to 2-0 up but they gt it back level. Then we got the 2 late goals to win 4-2. It was probably the most euphoric I have ever been at a Palace game.

I remember walking back to the station taunting the locals. I went with a guy from the Crystal Palace hotel and he had brought loads of beer. What a journey back!

Went to Palace on the Saturday and saw our reserves beat Hereford reserves (I think)5-0. This was whilst waiting for the result of Wrexham's last game. If they won they would go up ahead of us. They were beaten at home 1-0 by already promoted Mansfield (Ithink). There can't be many occasions when there is a joyous pitch invasion at the end of a reserves game.

Happy days!!

I went up to Wrexham again on the Saturday with about 100 other Palace fans. To start with, Mansfield were giving us a bit of banter, but then when we started shouting for Mansfield, they then started to shout for us and when Moss (I think) scored their winner the Mansfield team came over to us. Happy Daze!!!

Love that!! It was a bit of a thing back then, going to other games that mattered to cheer on another team!! obviously can’t be done these days with games needing tickets and memberships etc those were the days

We even went round to the players entrance as we had plenty of time for our train home. Met Bill Shankley and have his autograph on the programme (somewhere in the loft).

Can’t be many of those around, might be worth a few quid

Thats my favourite saying!! “It’s up in the loft somewhere”

Shankly (a hero of mine) had just resigned from Liverpool and was there to try and build up Wrexham he said something like you've already won this just go out there and do it again.
Thanks for digging this out the first time i've seen this in years

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Thanks for that footage never seen that before but it resonated with me because the mid 70s was the start of my adulation with Palace. I remember having to win by 2 goals that night but getting any results down under in those days wasn't easy.

During school I had to sneak to the public phone over the road from my school and spend my lunch money to call a results service.

My heart sank when the BBC voice announced Wrexham 2...but of course Palace got 4.

Appreciated the 1976 FA cup footage after the Wrexham game too because that FA cup run got into our newspapers and that was it for me. Malcolm Allison with his hat on and a fat cigar and I knew it was Palace for me.

It was another 20 years in the internet age with easier access to live games that I realised Palace were never going to win anything, too late, LOL......

I was in the bath with the radio on, and nothing else, when I heard the result.
