Great to see Dreher come on for the last 30 mins for the U23s for his first game since his awful injury back in August 2019. Looked neat and tidy and composed on the ball, a proper 'box-to-box midfielder' is how Bright described him. Hopefully he can get some good minutes under his belt with the U23s and will be an option for us in the first team next season.

How old is he now? An under 23 team is an odd concept in so far as they used to say if you haven't made it into the first team by the time you are 21, you should leave, but we seem to have a few lads hanging around the club who are 22-23ish but have barely played any first team football, for us or anyone else.

At least we have got an Academy to be proud of. What a shame the gaffer is vaccinated against using any of them.

I was pondering who might be the next young player to break through, possibly Banks or Rak-Sakyi (maybe when several first teamers are away at AFCON there might be space on the bench?) and remembered that a couple of years ago Luke Dreher was someone who I thought might take the step up. I know he has been desperately unlucky with injuries but I haven't seen his name for a while. Is he still around (it looks like he was given a contract extension in August)? Any news of him?

They have shown considerable faith in Dreher. We will see if he can hold up physically and fulfils all that faith.
