Howes credentials do stack up in my opinion - especially when you consider what he had achieved at Bournemouth at such a young age (late 30s early 40s). Considering the starting point and subsequent journey it is comparable (even favourable) to some of the other names mentioned. I mean what had Roy, Harry, Big Sam, Moyes achieved aged 40? Even the special one was mid 40s when he took the Prem by storm!
I think if we are to get a top manager - it will be have to be by recognising his potential and being prepared to wait for him to develop into one. Just the same as we do with players - Eze for example.

The shrewd move will be to back a young manager - with a some experience at the top level and give him the tools to thrive.
A well stocked conveyor belt of talent coming from the academy - for example.
Howe or Dyche both fit that criteria as far as Im concerned - one got Burnley into Europe and the othe took lowly Bournemouth to 9th place in EPL - trumping our best season.
Both will get better as the gain more experience, so it just depends on the style of football you prefer us to play.

I believe Dyche would play a better brand football than he currently does if he had better players at his disposal. We have more to offer a young ambitious manager like Dyche than Burnley do imo, good squad, developing academy, improving training facilities, stadium development and huge catchment area (if we get it right on the pitch).

Honestly, I think both are a good fit and the stand out candidates for a club at our stage of development Id be delighted with either one of them.

Just stop it mate! Stop talking sense, it wont get you any where on this site

Not sure if it's been posted on here but Frank Lampard is 1/3 favourite with Paddy Power at the moment.

Suggests that someone's had more than a tenner on it.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Howe was a pundit on TSN last night for the Leeds game. The way he was talking he is definitely targeting a return to the PL, whether that is with us or not is another matter. He said something along the lines of needing to stay up-to-date with the changing face of the PL in order that he can return to management. Personally I think he'll be in the PL next season, but not the Scottish one. Whether it is with us or someone else is another matter.

Funny I saw him more as England U21 replacement

I imagine Frank is a very popular bloke back in west London, he might attract a heap of youngsters who want first team football but can"t break in to a multi million pound team, could be a good move when Roy decides to move upstairs.

Had a look on oddschecker and he wasn"t even mentioned, favourite was howe at 6-1, so you could have something, not even mentioning Lamps as he"s so far ahead?

Im a fan of the though of Lampard in terms of the potential whole package- brining Jody Morris/Eddie Newton etc in, all of whom have a great reputation in the game for coaching and development which is our absolute priority now we have the new Academy and are unlikely to generate much income to buy players.

As for Frank as our Manager, he intrigues me but Id take some convincing about things like his in-game tactical nouse and seeing games out etc.

He is however certainly a name in the game that could not only attract young prospects but also coaches to work with/for him. Im also thinking the likes of Cahill when he retires from playing may be interested in staying around in a coaching capacity.

that would seem to be the case - Howe and Dyche were both about 5/2 a couple of days ago - Lampard's had 2 1/2 seasons as a manager - two were very successful, the other showed his inexperience - he's too good for Derby, not good enough for Chelsea which means he should be fine for us - nobody expected him to get that team into the champions league, much more positives than negatives, I have quickly warmed to this idea.

More of a risk than the other two - but not without merit imo.

An advocate of the inverted winger whilst at Chelsea (something that only works when quality full backs can bomb on and provide attacking width and is very much dependent on personnel) is a big negative as far as Im concerned! Weve been blessed over the years at the Palace with tricky wingers who go past a full back and whip a cross in and I love to see us play that style of football. Weve done that in all our most successful eras.

Having said that Lampard has proven himself in giving youngsters a go (if good enough) and, as has been pointed out, has a really credible back room team. In addition Lampard is a household name that many young players will have admired as a brilliant player and may jump at working with.

The more I think about it - not the worst thing that could happen.

Is Roy going to be moved upstairs and effectively replace Freedman as Director of Football? Personally I think this is a good idea as our recruitment of players has been generally poor. This has a knock on effect on our manager I can't see Dyche or Howe agreeing to come without complete control on player matters. SP has been reluctant to take a step away so putting Roy as a buffer between manager and Chairman has advantages. This in my view then makes Lampard more possible he already has a relationship with Roy through England and may welcome the older head if things get difficult.

What makes you think that Roy would be any better as allegedly it was he that wanted Sorloth
