For anyone who may be interested, the Mars Rover is due to land on Mars this evening. It is due to happen approximately 20.55pm and should be shown on NASA TV available on YouTube

If it was programmed by our strikers it would miss Mars all together, if our midfield it would wander around aimlessly pointing at things and if our defence it would give up after 5 minutes.

And presumably the manager would be Roy of the Rover

Success depends on whether it was built to engineers specs or accountants specs.

Interesting though.

This one will contain a drone that can take off, capture images and return to base - a great proof-of-concept, and a challenge given the reduced air pressure there.

Fingers crossed for the landing!

Yep, my daughter works in the space industry so is very interested. Will be some feat if everything goes successfully

just been reading some Fred Hoyle on the origins of the universe, he says the old Viking probe did find organic molecules in Mars's soil but the findings were suppressed because they challenged the consensus, proof of bacteriological breakdown to support Hoyle's theory that organic molecules could not have emerged from inorganic molcules, the amino acid soup idea is flawed according to Sir Fred, who thinks life in the universe is better explained by viral and bacteriological matter deposited by comets, be interesting to see if any organic molecules are found by the latest probe.

Looking forward to watching this, hopefully it will go well. I believe Sky News are covering it as well.

An approach at over 1300 mph into a rather warm, to say the least, environment will be a massive endorsement of the scientists if successful.
Bon voyage.
