What was Croydon resident Bridget Driscoll's unfortunate claim to fame? Keep it clean!

Sorry Ruby, I was intrigued so had to look it up. In 1896 she was the first recorded pedestrian to be killed in a collision with a motor car. In the grounds of the Crystal Palace too! The car was described by a witness to be travelling at a reckless pace. Probly about 10mph. Anyway, why do you ask? Did you know her?
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
