I agree. His career has been very hit and miss. He done well at Valencia and Liverpool but was sacked very early in his reign by Inter and Real Madrid and seems have a history of falling out with boards and fans,

I also agree. For me with Rafa, it's all about Rafa and not the club.

He also does not play exciting football that some on here crave and criticise Roy for, he plays very similarly to Roy in that regard. Newcastle fans love him because he went against Mike Ashley but when you compare the football, it was very much defence first and attacking football second. He even did this with Liverpool with far better players.

I'd love him at Palace because he would secure Premier League status but I don't believe he'd bring anything different to Roy.

Rafa is in a different league to Hodgson.

Champions League winner, Europe League winner, La Liga winner (twice), UEFA Cup (twice), FA Cup.

There are very few managers of his calibre around.

Hodgson has won a tin pot league before the premiership existed.

I think he'll go to Southampton.

If you think Rafa has been very hit and miss, please enlighten us on who you would like to take charge once Roy decides to move on.

I’m not saying this is you, but some ppl talk up Howe and Wilder, but then turn there noses up at Rafa.

Everyone gets sacked from Madrid and not many are successful.

If palace really want to try and go to that next level, we need a leader/manager who has done that. Going for out of contact managers who have recently been relegated is recipe for same old, same old in my opinion.

We can all dream, but Benitez is so far out our league. No way would he ever join Palace.

Dyche would be great, but Howe is realistic.

He's proven in the PL and as you've mentioned he's won trophies, hence why I said I'd love him at Palace. He'd retain our status in the PL and we could have a cup run.

My point was, those that want Roy out citing the need for a young manager with forward thinking attacking play, Rafa is not the answer.

Newcastle, he set up not to lose, 11 man behind the ball looking to get a goal on the break or set piece. Sound familiar? Rafa is known for his defensive minded set up with Jamie Carragher frequently mentioning it on Sky and this was with a team full of international players challenging at the top of the league. Would Rafa set up any different at Palace?

Its going to be a very hard and important call ,who we appoint next as our manager for sure .They all come with risks who ever they our.Even with a big transfer budget premiership survival is not gureenteed. So on that theory Steve and the board will opt for a relatively safe appointment, whoever that will be ?

Surely that depends in part on who they spend the "big transfer budget" on.

If we appoint a capable and experienced manager yet the transfer budget is spent by a PR man and a failed Championship manager it sure will be a recipe for disaster

Rafa doesn't want another relegation fight at a cash-strapped club.

That's why he left Newcastle.

the 'Net-We-had' at the Etihad....again

I listened to a long interview with Parish in which he talked about what he has learned from the de Boer situation and how he is focused on a long-term strategy and does not want people to come to the club just to use us as a stepping stone. It is also seems absolutely clear that Benitez would want a war chest wherever he went and the idea that his ego would fit into a club of our size seems highly questionable. As others have said, the football at Newcastle under Rafa was no better than what we have under Roy anyway. A big no from me.

Another interesting thing that Parish said he has come to understand is that he doesn't like hiring managers based on an interview process but rather looks to find the manager for himself. Whether it's the right decision or not I increasingly think that if Roy goes it will be Howe that Parish will pursue given his previous interest and approach for him.

For anyone interested the interview with Parish is on the 'Blank Podcast' with one of the hosts also working on the Five-Year Plan podcast.
