Commentary on ITV was less than perfect.
Talk about England's multitude of talent?

Where exactly? Poor poor finishing, more sideways and back-passing than Palace, as if they were playing a defence equal to the Italians of old.

San Marino played their guts out and their keeper had a blinder. So well done them.

As for England? That lot will do nothing.

Watched the first half an hour then got bored, so switched over.

What's the point in fixtures like this ? It must be so demoralizing for the San Marino team to get hammered every time they play.

I had it on in the background but only glanced at it now and again. The highlights for me were half time and the final whistle.

Small pool of players to pick from.
Gibraltar seem to be getting better but they can pick from a few more. Its football and I'm sure san Marino earn well out of it.

Exactly. For a while now I have thought that micronations should be allowed a little flexibility with regards to player eligibility so they can be more competitive.

San Marino has a population smaller than Redhill. If they put a team together to take on the supposed best the rest of the country can muster would anyone expect a competitive match?

Watched most of it for my sins, seemed like a training match. A few of our players seemed overly selfish(especially Stirling); taking on players and shooting when passing to a teammate would be the better option for the scoreline and for the confidence of the 'newbies'.

Taught us little except that we have 600 youngsters to fit into a 20 man squad, all of similar competency.
Bellingham looked bright when he came on. Mount was the standout performer for me though.

SMarino goalie pulled off some worldies, score could have been embarrassing for them.

The one real positive I would take is that there's not been too many times in the past that we actually managed to confidentally brush these minnow sides aside. We did that. Not really much of an acheivement, mind.

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"

England can't win in a game like this. If they win by only 3-0, people will say 'they should win 7-0', if they win 7-0 people will say 'it's only San Marino'. Pundits said England showed the right attitude so I'll go with that analysis. I can't imagine these fixture motivate the players either.

Watched the first 30 mins and turned it over as its a total non fixure.

For major international comps they should have a similar set up to the Nations League, i.e. small groups of 4 half decent teams and the top 2 qualifying with the team who finishes bottom getting relegated to play the with likes of San Marino and Gibralter for the next qualifying campaign. They would get replaced by a promoted team.

It would cut out these pointless fixtures and there would be 6 less international matches in each qualifying campaign. Hopefully clubs teams could then take the cups more seriously.

A reasonable idea and the PL clubs would back it as less international fixtures.

Many countries do not generate their money from domestic competitions and rely on FIFA for funds FIFA in turn rely on their votes. For probably the majority of the footballing nations playing England at Wembley is the highlight of their careers if not England one of the other big nations.

They wont give that up or the potential loss of revenue.

My main gripe was the 2nd half. England had all the possession yet showed little in creativity. Sideways and back passes non-stop.

Why not show a bit of guile? Perhaps it's worth risking loss of possession trying a chancy attack. If they get the ball then they'll unpack their defence and a counter attacking opportunity might arise.

I watched the whole game and found it very frustrating . In days gone past we played our first team all the time and only changed only when we had to .
This is the only way a team can gel together by getting to know how they each play .
I know everyone says we play to much football but that's there job and what they get very well payed for .
Yes I like to see the younger newer players and it also keeps the press off Southgate's back but at this rate we will never win anything .

Thought the second half display was mainly down to the 4 subs coming on and losing the attacking balance we had in the first half. If we kept Stirling and Mount on we would have got 8 I expect?
