A well argued piece unlike the knee jerk reactions from the usual suspects.

This was a well intentioned researched report I have 2 observations to make about the response to it.

1. The critics and there are many have not rebutted the report with facts simply said it was wrong.

If you want to discredit someone's research it is not enough to call it a whitewash (can I say that) you need to take it apart point by point. In short they played the man (board) rather than the ball. Clive Lewis tweeted a KKK picture very mature well researched rebuttal point Clive.

2. None of the critics mentioned that failure of white working class boys. Labour needs to re-focus on class inequalities which includes white and black kids. As the professor argues in the mail none of this gets mentioned by the party which is why they have lost the red wall.

Help the poor and you help everybody.

One more point

Nobody likes it when somebody questions if their job is worthwhile? There are many "race" experts in the UK at colleges universities, think tanks, councils, NHS charities etc etc whose only job is to fight racism.

These people will tell you that not only are their jobs vital but their need more money, more staff etc. But what exactly do they do apart from write reports that nobody reads telling us how terrible the UK is.

I take the attitude that we have laws and courts that take a dim view of racism as do the trade unions politicians of all parties the media and pretty much most employers.

If there is institutional racism in an organisation then there is the Human Rights commission which has gone up in my estimation by not being afraid to call out the Labour party which some might see as natural bedfellows.

In short there will always be individual cases but the structures and support are there for people to seek redress. The area of main concern has to be the failures in education and I am not necessarily blaming the teachers.

I doubt though that the race relations industry will go away any time soon, there's too much gravy and political kudos for that.
