I worked for a chap in south croydon, who is a Bee specialist.
very interesting indeed.
Apparantly people travel hundreds of miles to procure a queen bee.
the bees are also heavily interlaced with old english folklore.
its meant to be bad form & bad luck for you, not to inform them of deaths, births, marriages in the family
(if you have a hive)
If you really piss them off, they'll leave you !

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

Apparently bees are very sensitive to their surroundings and emotions / ambiance. A number of people have told me including the beekeeper that if a swarm settles in your garden it is a compliment they are very fussy.

She also explained that when it is time for a new queen there are about 10 lava? waiting to hatch. The first one out kills the rest of the queens quite ruthless.

I can see why people get facinated by them I learnt so much in just a short chat.

indeed, very interesting.
in the same area, many yesrs previously, I had to get down at great speed from a scaffold, painting a chimney stack.
A thick black cloud in appearance of bees swarmed across the sky at roof level.
Hate Wasps though !

We have had bees under the roof tiles of our converted barn near the front door Apparently they are 'cornish' bees and not aggressive. Interesting to see the mortuary bees clearing out the dead or sick bees - they just pick them up and dump them in the flower beds.
Ours swarm 2-3 times a year and if they land nearby ( on apple or hazel trees ) we call the local bee-keeper who boxes them up and takes them away. About 3000 swarm each time.

i bought some second-hand bee-keeping PPE (slightly damaged), for £400.

I thought it was good value, but on second thoughts, I'm feeling a bit stung

What you get up to in the privacy of your bedroom should stay that way.
