I read somewhere today in one of those 'News Now' features, he was trying to justify having three goalkeepers in yesterday's squad, and saying that he could have put one of the U23's on the bench but it was pointless as they wouldn't have played no matter what. Leicester are quite a bit above us in the pecking order and because of this they are able to attract the desired youngster's, Sheff.U are completely stuck in the position they are currently in ..we can move upwards and did.

I don't think we over paid for Benteke. Perhaps Sakho to some extent. That's what players cost of that standard. Players that are proven, available and willing to join Crystal Palace would not be falling over themselves to join. Many clubs buy players that cost more and fail but we do not scrutinise them. Islam Slimani was linked with us. That would have been a disaster. Arguably Benteke and Sakho made us a lot stronger at points. I do think we should have better networking. Brentford have better recruitment knowledge than we do.

No it won't change my mind. Compared to what Pulis inherited, it was by contrast an embarrassment of riches. We also had players like Cabaye and Loftus-Cheek in addition to most of the players we have now who were younger. I'm sorry, but those of us with longer memories cannot remember squads as talented as this with internationals everywhere In my view comparing what Pulis had to now is not really worth comparing. Every team in the division has strengthened massively over those years which leaves us basically in the same position. I am not disagreeing that on the face of it it looks like we have the best squad ever assembled at Palace but the flaws are massive.

Also, Leicester have better players to enable youngsters to come through, like Chelsea.

While I do appreciate his one-moment-madness EVERY game, he would have been first name on the team sheet and something of a Palace legend had he stayed fit. Now he is just that bloke who cost £££, gave the ball away to Vardy, and was always injured.
