Agree. Mobility stretches are much more important than static stretches. I do 5-10 mins on rower and some mobility stretches before doing weights. Sometimes I do static stretches after but not always.
It is noticable that football teams don't perform static stretches in their warm up routines on the pitch anymore.

Static stretches before exercise is stone age.

It's only in recent years that coaches and fitness trainers have started using educated methods.

A lot of you see on the internet is still codswallop.

Mike Mentzer (and probably Arthur Jones too ) didn't advocate static stretcher way back in the 70's and 80's. In Mentzer's case he always said that the warm up set would stretch your muscles enough to prepare you for the main work sets.

So much of exercise technique in the past has been anecdotal.
Good science in sport is hard to come by.

The three options you suggest are non-impact, but do not raise the heart-rate as much or use the same amount of energy. My rule of thumb is that you travel twice as far on a bike using half the calories compared to running.

Run for 1 hour uses 750 calories and travel 7 miles.
Cycle for 1 hour uses 375 calories and travel 14 miles.

I have been running and cycling for 30 years.

I also have a turbo-trainer.

We didn't have bikes if we had they would of been used our species was about using its brain plus working as a group (we did't go running for hours or long distances it was about bursts the same thing you should do when exercising)

Never heard of high intensity exercise it appears which is what people should be doing.

All of what I listed if done correctly do this.
When you get an education in the subject you may learn to give some solid advice everything you are putting is typical mainstream BS.

Calories counting what a joke I bet you are another that buys into the calories in = calories out.

Running for long periods is awful for our bodies plus health.

Not putting much effort in it appears if you was you wouldn't be able to last 1 hour doing just one of these exercises.

You are a very rude person. Why can’t you ever post without hurling insults?

I don't understand all this gobbledegook.

Standing up from my favourite chair, walking to the kitchen, cutting a healthy slice of cake then walking back to my chair with said tea and cake, I find to be exceedingly stimulating.

I can exercise like this several times a day without breaking a sweat. That's how fit I am.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Not too sure what you mean with the highlighted text. I have learnt by experience training and running for 10 marathons and over 100 1/2 marathons/10 milers. Also used to hold a low-level coaching creditation.

1 calorie is the amount of energy required to raise 1cc of water by 1 degree. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. 1 mile running uses 100-115 calories. Food contains calories. Therefore if you eat and use more calories running than you consume your body will compensate by using excess fat. The body is a clever thing ( more than be said about some people
).

Running improves the CV system by encouraging the generation of micro-blood vessels to support muscle usage. Your heart is a muscle. The more it is used, the stronger and larger it can become. The larger it is, it can pump more blood around within one cycle. Fewer heart beats means less stress when resting. I could go on but I'm going for a run now

I stated it before you don't understand high intensity exercise (sprints on exercise bike how many calories you think that would use?)

Wrong about calories as I expected mainstream BS education.

You have missed out a very simple point not all calories are equal.

Running marathons is not healthy learn some human physiology we are not build for this no matter the training you do it is fighting against our nature.

People on here need to stop coming out with what mainstream is pushing the type of things you hear on TV or websites which is repeated many times doesn't make it correct.

Enjoy your run
