Boy, we had some riotous Tuesday nights here at Wallington Public Hall. Live bands galore from the Stones and Hollies to Gerry and the Pacemakers. Beatles were booked, but they became too popular and cancelled after getting a better booking elsewhere.

Also good to see the Dukes Head on Wallington Green. It was the first stop on my paper round.

My old flat in Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill/Sydenham border. This is taken from a book, or rather a series of local history books, and doubtless there is one of Croydon.

Great. So different nowadays.
Amazing how we all snap everything now.
Must be couple a thousand phones in the air every time we score.
Think I preferred the earlier era but I wasn’t around for the horse and carriage one.

Good point dreamwaverider. People forget how expensive and bulky cameras were then they first came out. Plus the cost of developing and half the pictures came back blurred or really dark.
I only have a few photos of the 1960's, and 70's because people had to spend a fortune on cameras, and they weren't things you could just put in your pocket.

Very pleased this thread was started, because personal photos also carry a story.

And hardly anyone thought to take photos of everyday life. What's the point in that ? nothings going to change.
As you say, everyone has a camera on their phone today, and everything is immediately posted on the internet, "what i done 3 minutes ago", or some such,..
