The PV influence is clearly an attraction. Players want to be associated with a positive vibe, esp young players. It could be the start of something, or a massive car crash.
I feel more hope then fear.
Yes get those young players in who are not hitting the first teams. Loftus-Cheek did great for us and then went back and disappeared. Lets get him bck as well.
And i would swap Zaha for Abrahams any day.

I don't understand why this story has been put out before the deal is done.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

In a sense the most pleasing thing about this transfer is the speed it's happening at - assuming it happens of course.

We're getting our business done early but also decisively - it really does feel as this is indeed a plan coming together. Noted that SP spoke of this window being planned for and there's a sharp contrast to most of the business we've done previously.

Other point is I suspect we may be getting Guehi because we have a clear opening for him in the side whereas elsewhere he'd be a fringe player. RH giving Eze a full season makes us look an attractive proposition perhaps. Loads of these young England/English raised players are off to the continent as that's where they get game time. Tomori springs to mind here. It's not a bad model if we can make it work.

Also wonder if the presence of Gary Hillman on the board might have helped. He's the chairman of Cray Wanderers, which was Guehi's first club as a kid before he went to Chelsea, and Guehi still appeared at youth award ceremonies and stuff even a couple of years ago as he's got a good relationship with Cray and Hillman. As far as I'm aware, Hillman is still a director at Palace?

We've also got a little lucky with the market here - unless that was also planned. We're buying in a season where prices haven't been inflated to ridiculous levels and clubs need to offload.

I agree. I feel we knew we were going to have a major overhaul and with prices being lower it has helped enormously. The US owners must be aware it is now or never to buy.
God knows how we would have done this pre-pandemic prices

Chelsea perhaps hoping for a better offer? I agree I doubt the leak came from Palace it doesn't help us in any way with West Ham fans screaming at their board to make a bid.

I not sure I agree. I think our transfer budget had been strapped by our owners and FFP however when the pandemic started they saw it as an opportunity.

I think many on this board pointed this out last summer that the fincancial impact of COVID would drive prices down so we should not pay over the odds at that time.

Parish has deliberately allowed players contracts to run down and off loaded expensive flops and re-signed players on lower contracts (I hope).

Outside of the PL there is no real competition Spain Italy and German clubs are all struggling and will have to sale.

Our only real competition is with other PL clubs and they may not need the players we want or their budgets are limited because they spent last summer.

I wonder if West Ham will spend big this window? Possibly not, Everton probably yes the rest I think will be very specific maybe one or 2 players.

The big 6 are looking to offload squad players before they buy and in any case we aren't really competing with Man united for Sancho.

To sum up I think Parish has played a blinder to get us to the point where we are now the question is will we buy the right players, I guess time will tell.

Itís the waiting that kills me. If he has signed a 5 year deal and passed a medical why is there always a period of a day or two before we finally see the player wearing a Palace shirt?
