Did Mateta actually start a PL game? I seem to recall that Roy brought him on as a sub in the few games he played. So isn't the option to buy based on starts rather than appearances?

Mateta, looks at this time to be a player that does his best work in the box. Unfortunately in the Premier league ,most teams need a bit more than that from their so called strikers, Palace, more than most.
This will be a big year for him, because he needs to improve his ball retention , his holding play in general, he has to be able to not be a potential liability to his own side if not in the opposition box.
